Leeds United are closing in on the departure of Brazilian goalkeeper Lucas Perri, just one year after he arrived at Elland Road.
Perri struggled to hold down the number one spot at Leeds last season, posting a save percentage of just 56.7% across his 16 Premier League appearances.
Those numbers were so poor that Karl Darlow, at 35 years old, was able to displace him as the first-choice goalkeeper during the campaign.
Darlow finished the season with a save percentage of 70% and ranked sixth among Premier League goalkeepers, while Perri ranked outside the top 20.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, as relayed by Sport Witness, Torino have reached an agreement to sign Perri on loan from Leeds with the option to buy.
Perri has also agreed personal terms with the Italian club, meaning the deal is now awaiting just one final step before it can be completed.
That final step rests with Leeds, who are unwilling to let Perri leave until they have finalised their own move for James Trafford.
The Whites have advanced talks to sign the Manchester City goalkeeper and are expected to seal his signature ahead of Newcastle United.
The prospect of landing Trafford is an exciting one for Leeds fans, with former Burnley boss Scott Parker previously stating: “He needed to engage in that. He needed to take a breath and take stock and decide where he wanted to be, and to be fair to him, I’ve seen someone mature. There’s no denying that he’s a world-class keeper.”
Trafford had been earmarked as a future number one at Manchester City before Gianluigi Donnarumma arrived last summer and altered those plans significantly.
The England international represents a significant upgrade on both Perri and Darlow, and Leeds will be hopeful of finally resolving what has been a troublesome position for the club.
The departures of Ilan Meslier to Arsenal and Darlow to Manchester United earlier this summer made finding a top-class goalkeeper an urgent priority for Daniel Farke’s side.
