Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing West Ham United forward Crysencio Summerville, according to The Athletic.
The 24-year-old first attracted widespread attention with his performances for Leeds United in the Championship during the 2023/24 season, registering 30 goal contributions across all competitions.
West Ham were sufficiently impressed to bring him to the London Stadium, though his debut campaign was hampered significantly by fitness problems.
Despite West Ham’s struggles last term, which ultimately resulted in relegation from the Premier League, Summerville still managed 10 goal contributions across all competitions.
His performances were enough to earn a call-up from Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman for the World Cup squad, where he contributed four goal involvements in as many matches.
However, Summerville could not help the Netherlands advance beyond the last-32 stage of the tournament, leaving his country disappointed despite his individual efforts.
The Athletic report that United could look to sign a new left-winger this summer after revamping their midfield, with the move largely dependent on whether they cash in on Marcus Rashford.
Barcelona chose not to purchase Rashford permanently, and manager Michael Carrick is reportedly prepared to reintegrate the winger into his squad, though a departure before the transfer window closes remains possible.
United have already held exploratory talks with West Ham over signing Summerville, who has been firmly identified as the leading candidate to bolster their attacking options.
West Ham are holding firm over their valuation despite suffering relegation, with the East London club demanding around £50m for a player whose contract runs until 2029.
Summerville is described as a right-footed explosive left-winger who is also effective on the opposite flank, combining pace, technical quality, and strong off-the-ball work.
Matheus Cunha was United’s only specialist left-wing option last season, with Carrick deploying Patrick Dorgu to provide additional support out wide for the Brazilian.
Whether United make a formal approach to secure Summerville’s services before the summer window closes remains one of the more compelling transfer storylines at Old Trafford.
