Manchester United have made formal enquiries over a deal to sign Juventus winger Francisco Conceição this summer, according to journalist Nicolo Schira.

The 23-year-old has attracted significant attention from Premier League clubs, with Liverpool previously reported to have shown concrete interest in securing his signature.

United appear to be looking to beat their rivals to the deal, with Schira claiming the Red Devils have now entered the race for Conceição’s services.

Conceição began his football journey in Sporting CP’s academy, progressing through the Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19 age groups before making the switch to FC Porto in 2018.

During his time at Porto, he made 94 appearances across all competitions and played a role in the club winning the 2021-22 Primeira Liga title along with two Portuguese Cups.

He later moved to Ajax in the Eredivisie in 2022, impressing sufficiently for Porto to bring him back permanently in 2024 following a season-long loan spell.

Juventus subsequently moved to sign the Portuguese winger, initially on a temporary basis before making the deal permanent last summer, and he has since made 82 appearances in all competitions for the Turin club.

His club form has helped him secure a regular place in Portugal’s senior squad, earning selections for both UEFA Euro 2024 and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Conceição’s most memorable international moment came at Euro 2024, when he came off the bench to score a stoppage-time winner in a 2-1 victory over the Czech Republic, prompting former Portugal coach Roberto Martinez to describe him as “incredible” after the game.

Despite having four years remaining on his Juventus contract, Schira suggests the winger could still depart the Serie A club this summer amid strong interest from Manchester United.

Conceição’s current Transfermarkt valuation stands at around £25 million, a figure that reflects his growing reputation as one of European football’s more dynamic wide players.

However, questions have been raised over his end product, with the winger never having reached double figures for goals in a single campaign throughout his career, with his best return standing at eight.

United fans will be hoping the club can fend off Liverpool’s interest and land a player whose fearless mentality and technical ability could add a new dimension to their attacking play.
