Chelsea have reached an agreement with Aston Villa to sign Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez for a fee of £7.5 million, according to Telegraph journalist Matt Law.
Martinez, 33, is set to undergo a medical after both clubs confirmed their agreement on the modest transfer fee for the World Cup winner.
The deal represents exceptional value for Chelsea, who secure one of the most decorated goalkeepers in recent international football for a relatively low outlay.
Sky Sports News reported that Chelsea had been considering a late move for Martinez after current number one Robert Sanchez came under criticism following his error in Monday’s win at Fulham.
