Everton are exploring a late move for Fulham right-back Timothy Castagne as manager David Moyes seeks to address a problem position before the summer window closes.
The Athletic has reported that Everton are continuing to sound out right-back targets and have identified Castagne as a player who could solve their defensive issues.
The departure of long-serving captain Seamus Coleman has left Everton in desperate need of a reliable full-back option heading into the new campaign.
Nathan Patterson has fallen out of favour at Goodison Park and is not currently viewed by Moyes as a dependable starting option at right-back.
Castagne joined Fulham from Leicester City in the summer of 2023 in a deal worth around £15 million and has since established himself as a key member of their squad.
The 30-year-old Belgian international has made 105 appearances for the Cottagers, contributing towards seven goals across all competitions during his time at the club.
He was heavily involved last season, featuring 36 times and accumulating more than 2,300 minutes, underlining his importance to Fulham’s setup throughout the campaign.
With over 150 Premier League appearances and nearly 70 senior caps for Belgium, Everton view Castagne as a pragmatic acquisition who can address a pressing need without significant financial outlay.
His versatility is another attractive quality, with the defender capable of operating as a traditional right-back, wing-back, or even providing cover at left-back when required.
Castagne has just one year remaining on his contract at Craven Cottage, which could encourage Fulham to sanction a sale rather than risk losing him for free next summer.
Everton are reportedly prepared to promise a guaranteed starting role to entice the experienced defender to Merseyside, adding further appeal to a potential switch.
The club also hold an ongoing interest in Crystal Palace’s Daniel Munoz, though there have been suggestions Moyes has reservations about deploying him specifically at right-back.
Castagne remains one of several names on Everton’s shortlist as Moyes looks to finalise his defensive options before the transfer window shuts.
