Leeds United are planning a hectic conclusion to the summer transfer window, with up to five additional signings targeted on top of a pending deal for Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford.
The 49ers Enterprises have already overseen a productive window ahead of the club’s second consecutive Premier League campaign, bringing in proven quality across multiple positions.
Leeds have completed the signings of attacker Harry Wilson and centre-back Tarik Muharemovic, addressing both attacking creativity and defensive depth following Pascal Struijk’s departure from Elland Road.
The club has been working intensively on a £40m deal to bring Trafford to Yorkshire, a move that would make the England goalkeeper both the new first-choice shot-stopper and Leeds’ most expensive signing in history.
However, according to Sky Sports reporter Zinny Boswell, the Whites are still targeting reinforcements in five distinct areas before the September 1 deadline closes the window.
A backup goalkeeper to Trafford, a wide attacking midfielder, a central midfielder, a full-back, and potentially a new striker all remain firmly on Leeds’ to-do list for the 49ers and manager Daniel Farke.
The attacking midfield position carries particular urgency after Leeds spent much of the summer pursuing free agent Julian Brandt, believing the experienced German could provide the creativity required at Premier League level.
However, with Ajax securing Brandt’s services, Farke and the 49ers must now redirect their attention towards alternative marquee options capable of unlocking top-flight defences week in, week out.
Previous target Igor Paixao has attracted attention in recent days, with the wide forward contributing 12 goals and seven assists across 42 games for Marseille during the 2025/26 season.
Paixao could offer competition and versatility alongside the likes of Wilson, Okafor, and Brenden Aaronson, while also providing creative support for striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin and any potential new centre-forward arrival.
A versatile full-back to provide cover for Gabriel Gudmundsson on the left flank remains another priority, similar to the role James Justin currently fulfils on the opposite side of defence.
A backup goalkeeper to complete a trio alongside Trafford and Alex Cairns also makes considerable sense as Farke looks to assemble a well-rounded and competitive squad for the season ahead.
In central midfield, the department currently features Ethan Ampadu, Ao Tanaka, Sean Longstaff, Anton Stach, and Ilia Gruev, yet Leeds are still understood to be pursuing an additional option in that area.
Heavily linked midfielder Shea Charles has been identified as a potential target to add further quality and depth to what is already a competitive midfield group at Elland Road.
If Leeds successfully complete all six deals including Trafford, the window would represent a transformative summer under 49ers Enterprises ownership and significantly strengthen Farke’s hand heading into a crucial Premier League campaign.
