Liverpool are reported to hold a concrete interest in signing Brighton and Hove Albion winger Yankuba Minteh, according to TEAMtalk.

The 22-year-old Gambian winger has attracted significant attention from the Merseyside club as they look to strengthen their attacking options this summer.

Minteh originally joined Newcastle United from Danish side Odense Boldklub in 2023 before immediately heading out on loan to Eredivisie giants Feyenoord.

At Feyenoord’s De Kuip stadium, the youngster impressed with 16 goal contributions across 37 appearances in all competitions, catching the eye of several top clubs.

Brighton moved to purchase him on a permanent basis following that loan spell, bringing him into the Premier League fold for the first time.

His debut Premier League campaign showed plenty of promise, with Minteh registering seven goals and five assists across all tournaments for the Seagulls.

Last season proved more difficult, however, with the winger managing only seven goal contributions from 36 appearances in all competitions.

Brighton hold Minteh on a contract running until 2029 and are under no pressure to sell, though TEAMtalk suggest a £70m offer could change the club’s stance.

Liverpool journalist David Lynch, writing on Anfield Index, reports that the club want a new winger alongside Bradley Barcola despite already signing Victor Muñoz from Osasuna.

Minteh is a left-footed right-winger by trait, similar in profile to Mohamed Salah, though he is also capable of providing cover on the opposite flank when required.

His physical attributes make him an appealing target, as he is quick, strong, capable of dribbling past defenders in tight spaces, and industrious without the ball.

Liverpool initially identified Minteh as a serious target during Arne Slot’s tenure, and despite the Dutch manager’s departure, the club’s interest has not faded.

The Reds currently have Cody Gakpo, Federico Chiesa, Rio Ngumoha, and the recently signed Victor Muñoz as options across the forward line and wider areas.

Chiesa has struggled to adapt to Premier League football since arriving from Juventus, while Ngumoha’s minutes are being carefully managed given his young age.

Whether Liverpool ultimately make a formal approach for Minteh before the transfer window closes remains to be seen, given Brighton’s tough negotiating reputation.
