Liverpool have made direct contact with the representatives of Paris Saint-Germain forward Ibrahim Mbaye, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The 18-year-old is represented by Jorge Mendes, and Romano states that Liverpool have opened talks with the agent over a possible summer move to Anfield.
Mbaye began his youth career at ES Guyancourt before spending time with Versailles, eventually joining PSG’s academy at the age of 10.
He worked his way through the Parisian youth system and has since won two Ligue 1 titles, two Champions League trophies, and several other major cup competitions.
Despite those team successes, Mbaye has found regular first-team football difficult to come by under manager Luis Enrique at Parc des Princes.
He managed just five goal contributions in 11 starts across the Champions League and Ligue 1 last season, limiting his development at club level.
While his club appearances have been restricted, Mbaye has still earned recognition at international level by securing a place in the Senegal national squad.
Romano reports that Mbaye is keen on the prospect of joining Liverpool, and the player is prioritising a move to Merseyside over other interested parties.
Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly close to reaching an agreement with PSG to sign Mbaye, but the teenager’s preference remains a switch to Liverpool.
Mbaye was previously close to joining RB Leipzig earlier this summer, though that deal collapsed following Yan Diomande’s decision to join Real Madrid.
PSG are in a strong negotiating position, with Mbaye valued at around £26m by Transfermarkt and still under contract at the club until 2028.
The versatile winger is comfortable operating on either flank and is known for his pace, technical quality, and ability to beat defenders in tight spaces.
Liverpool are actively reshaping their attacking options this summer, with Mbaye identified as part of a broader push to revamp the frontline at Anfield.
The Reds have already completed the signing of Victor Munoz from Osasuna and are also keen on bringing in Bradley Barcola alongside Mbaye.
Whether Liverpool can secure a deal ahead of the new season remains to be seen, but the player’s clear preference for the club gives them a significant advantage.
