Liverpool have submitted a £60 million offer to sign Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh as the club searches for wide attacking reinforcements this summer.
The Merseyside club are actively targeting a new winger, with the departure of Mohamed Salah leaving a significant gap on the right-hand side of their attack.
Liverpool had already secured the signing of Victor Munoz from Osasuna, but the club appears determined to bring in additional quality in wide areas.
Journalist David Ornstein confirmed the initial approach, writing on X: “Liverpool made offer in recent days to sign Yankuba Minteh from Brighton & Hove Albion. 22yo #BHAFC winger currently injured but among #LFC options for wide attacking areas – bid worth £50m turned down.”
Brighton rejected that opening £50 million proposal, prompting Liverpool to return with a significantly improved offer worth £60 million in an attempt to force a breakthrough.
That second bid has also been turned down by the Seagulls, who are standing firm on their valuation of the 22-year-old Gambian international.
According to the Daily Mail’s Lewis Steele, Liverpool may need to return with a third offer of around £66 million to finally strike a deal with Brighton.
Reports indicate that Liverpool have already reached a broad verbal agreement with Minteh over personal terms, with the winger keen on making a move to Anfield.
Transfer insider Andy Naylor offered an optimistic assessment of the situation, writing on X: “On transfers, Minteh (to Liverpool) and Baleba (to Man Utd) will probably both end up happening, as the offers are not that far away from making sense.”
PSG winger Bradley Barcola remains Liverpool’s primary target this window, with personal terms between the club and the France international having been agreed some time ago.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano clarified that Liverpool intend to sign Minteh alongside Barcola rather than as a direct replacement for the Paris Saint-Germain forward.
Minteh is currently sidelined after suffering a blow to his right leg during a pre-season friendly against Roma, with surgery required following the injury.
The winger is not expected to return to full fitness until around November, meaning any deal would see Liverpool wait a considerable period before seeing him in action.
Minteh posted a dribble success rate of 53.7 percent last season, underlining the technical qualities that have attracted Liverpool’s interest in the Brighton attacker.
