Rangers are pushing hard to sign PSV winger Couhaib Driouech, with negotiations between the two clubs now confirmed to be underway.
Voetbal International journalist Joost Blaauwhof reports that Rangers have opened formal talks with PSV over a permanent transfer for the 24-year-old.
Further reporting from PSV specialist Rik Elfrink confirms Rangers have already submitted their first multi-million-pound offer, which PSV rejected for falling below their valuation.
PSV are protected by a contract running until 2029 and are reportedly seeking a package worth around £7 million, including bonuses.
Despite the initial rejection, Driouech is said to favour the move and Rangers are believed to have a long-term contract ready and waiting for him.
Blaauwhof describes Rangers as favourites ahead of RB Salzburg, who are also tracking the Dutch international winger this summer.
Driouech made 40 appearances and scored nine goals across all competitions last season, including two goals against Liverpool in seven Champions League outings.
The right-footed winger is most comfortable starting on the left flank before driving inside or accelerating towards the byline, offering Rangers unpredictability in wide areas.
He helped PSV win a second consecutive Eredivisie title, but younger winger Amir Bouhamdi has moved ahead of him in the pecking order during preseason preparations.
That shift in the squad hierarchy at Eindhoven has created a clear opening for Rangers manager Derek McInnes to capitalise on.
PSV signed Driouech for around £3 million in 2024 despite interest from Rangers, Sevilla and Sporting Lisbon, with the player choosing to stay in the Netherlands at the time.
Driouech came through Heerenveen’s academy before developing at Excelsior, where promotion and relegation battles gave him consistent senior experience and sharpened his attacking instincts.
Rangers have already completed nine signings this summer, including Daisuke Yokota, who joined from Hannover in a £3.5 million deal and provides a left-footed option on the right wing.
Lawrence Shankland has also strengthened the forward line, while Ben Godfrey and Olwethu Makhanya have reinforced the defensive options available to McInnes.
Mikey Moore has returned to Tottenham after his loan spell and is now heading to Köln, leaving a gap on the wing that Driouech could fill perfectly.
With the clubs now negotiating over price rather than persuading the player, a breakthrough deal could transform the Ibrox attack before the transfer window closes.
