Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of Brazilian winger Savio from Manchester City in a deal worth up to £85 million.
The transfer pushes Spurs’ total summer spending past the £300 million mark, underscoring the club’s serious ambitions for the season ahead.
Spurs will pay an initial £75 million for the 22-year-old, with a further £10 million available through performance-related add-ons.
It is understood that £5 million of those potential bonuses are effectively guaranteed, meaning Manchester City could receive at least £80 million from the deal.
The transfer also sets a new record for Manchester City’s highest-value outgoing sale, surpassing the £82 million fee they received for Julian Alvarez when he joined Atletico Madrid in 2024.
The winger, whose full name is Savio Moreira de Oliveira, has been widely known as Savinho during his time in the Premier League but wishes to be referred to as Savio going forward at his new club.
He will wear the No. 17 shirt at the north London club as he begins what promises to be a significant new chapter in his career.
Savio was unveiled in the famous Lilywhite kit and expressed his delight at making the move to Spurs following what appears to have been a lengthy pursuit by the club.
“It’s taken a while but I’m very happy to be here,” Savio said after his transfer was announced. “It’s a wonderful opportunity at a brilliant club with one of the best managers in the world.”
Tottenham sporting director Johan Lange also confirmed that the club had been tracking the player for some time before eventually securing the deal.
“Sávio is someone who has been on our radar for a while and I’m delighted that he is now a Tottenham Hotspur player,” Lange said in an official club statement.
“He has already shown his quality at the highest level, and we believe his ability, style and mentality will be a great fit for the squad we are building here,” Lange added.
“I know he will excite our supporters every time he gets on the ball,” the sporting director concluded, setting high expectations for the winger among the Tottenham faithful.
