Sunderland are targeting Marseille winger Timothy Weah as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of a crucial Premier League campaign.
The Black Cats finished seventh last season under manager Regis Le Bris, securing a remarkable Europa League place in just their first season back in the top flight.
However, the summer transfer window has been underwhelming for Sunderland, with veteran full-back Thomas Meunier the only notable arrival at the Stadium of Light so far.

According to TEAMtalk, Sunderland are among several clubs that have enquired about Weah’s availability, with Foot Mercato confirming that Marseille would consider selling the American for around €20m, equivalent to approximately £17m.
Weah spent the 2025/26 season on loan at Marseille before the French club completed an obligation to buy from Juventus, and the attacker created seven big chances in Ligue 1 while winning 51% of his duels.
The versatile forward can operate as a centre-forward or out wide on either flank, giving Le Bris tactical flexibility that could prove vital across both domestic and European competition this season.
Sunderland have not yet entered formal negotiations, though they have gathered relevant information and are now weighing up whether to make a firm move for the player.
