Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly confident of completing the signing of Manchester City forward Savinho, according to a report from The Athletic.
The 22-year-old Brazilian made a strong impression during his time with Girona before joining Manchester City a couple of years ago.
Despite showing flashes of quality at the Etihad Stadium, Savinho has struggled to nail down a regular starting position in the Premier League.
During his debut campaign at City, the forward managed 14 goal contributions across all competitions, hinting at his considerable attacking potential.
However, he started only 11 matches across the Premier League and Champions League last term, highlighting his difficulty in breaking into the first team consistently.
Following Pep Guardiola’s departure, Enzo Maresca has been appointed as the new Manchester City manager, with Savinho showing promising form under the Italian during pre-season.
Manchester City recently tied Savinho down to a new contract until 2031, and with Transfermarkt valuing him at around £30m, the club are not under pressure to sell.
Tottenham’s interest in the forward is driven by a mounting injury crisis on the flanks, with Wilson Odobert facing an extended spell out due to a serious knee problem.
Dejan Kulusevski has been sidelined for over a year, and Mohammed Kudus has also been dealing with fitness issues for several months, leaving the squad stretched thin.
Mathys Tel is currently the only available wide option that manager Roberto De Zerbi has at his disposal, though the Frenchman has impressed during pre-season fixtures.
Savinho is a versatile forward who is comfortable operating on either flank, combining pace, technical ability, and a strong work rate without the ball.
With the new campaign less than two weeks away, Spurs are not yet close to finalising a deal, and are also monitoring Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo as an alternative option.
