Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly expressed interest in signing Eintracht Frankfurt forward Jean-Matteo Bahoya, according to The Athletic.
The 21-year-old Frenchman began his youth career at FE Trélazé before spending time with ES Andard Brain during his early development years.
Bahoya joined Angers’ academy at just nine years old, eventually rising through the ranks to make his first team debut in 2023.
His performances at Stade Raymond Kopa caught the eye of Eintracht Frankfurt, who moved to purchase him the following year.
Despite making the switch to the Bundesliga, Bahoya has largely served as a rotational option, registering eight goal contributions across 18 starts in all competitions last season.
The Athletic reports that Tottenham held talks with the player’s representatives over a potential move before the current transfer window opened.
However, Bahoya is not considered a primary target, and Spurs have not yet formalised their interest in the Frankfurt winger.
The report indicates that Tottenham’s main attacking targets this summer are Manchester City forward Savinho and Liverpool star Cody Gakpo.
Bahoya is valued at around £21 million by Transfermarkt and is contracted to Frankfurt until 2029, meaning the German club hold a strong negotiating position.
The young winger is predominantly a right-footed left winger but can also operate as a centre-forward or in the CAM role when required.
Described as extremely quick and technically sound, Bahoya is capable of beating defenders in tight spaces and creating chances for teammates.
His potential is not in question, though his lack of regular starts at Frankfurt does raise doubts about his readiness for a step up in quality.
Tottenham currently have Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert as left flank options, though Odobert has been battling a serious knee injury during the transfer window.
Tel, despite his young age, has shown promising signs of quality during pre-season and continues to develop under the current Spurs setup.
