Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a significant push to land two high-profile attackers this summer as Roberto De Zerbi looks to reshape his frontline.
Having already spent around £230m on defensive and midfield reinforcements, Spurs are now turning their focus firmly towards adding elite attacking options.
Martin Dubravka, Andy Robertson, Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi, Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes have all arrived at the club under De Zerbi so far this summer.
Manchester City winger Savinho has been among the club’s top summer targets, with the Brazilian reportedly open to leaving the Etihad in search of regular first-team football.
Tottenham first explored a move for Savinho last summer and have revived their pursuit under De Zerbi, who views the winger as a priority attacking target.
Talks are progressing, with Spurs actively working on a deal worth around £60m, although the final fee could rise through add-ons.
AC Milan have shown interest in Savinho, but Tottenham are currently viewed as leading the race after advancing negotiations with Manchester City.
De Zerbi is said to admire Savinho’s pace, dribbling, creativity and his ability to play effectively on either wing, making him an ideal fit for the system.
However, Savinho is not the only Premier League forward on Tottenham’s radar, with Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo now emerging as another player the club admire.
According to journalist and Spurs insider Paul O’Keefe, interest in Gakpo would not come at the expense of their pursuit of Savinho, with the insider stating: “As far as I understand it’s in addition to Savinho.”
The Dutch international has been a consistent presence for Liverpool since arriving at Anfield, contributing 73 goals and assists across 180 appearances for the Reds.
Gakpo also has a remarkable record against Spurs specifically, having scored four goals and registered three assists across nine appearances against them in all competitions.
That record highlights exactly the kind of threat the Netherlands international could pose for Tottenham if the club successfully bring him to north London this summer.
De Zerbi would likely find Gakpo a strong tactical fit, given his ability to cut inside from the left, operate as a central striker or drift wide to the right.
Gakpo also demonstrated his quality on the biggest international stage, netting three times for the Netherlands at the World Cup to underline his pedigree.
Landing both Gakpo and Savinho would represent two genuinely significant additions as Spurs look to avoid a third consecutive season battling near the relegation zone.
