Arsenal and Manchester United are both targeting Bournemouth striker Evanilson as they look to bolster their attacking options in the January transfer window.
Journalist Ekrem Konur has reported that both Premier League clubs are interested in signing the Brazilian forward, with Arsenal having already made an informal enquiry during the recently concluded summer window.
Bournemouth rejected Arsenal’s approach last month, but it is believed a bid in the region of £56 million could convince the Cherries to part ways with the 26-year-old in January.
A key reason Evanilson was not permitted to leave the Vitality Stadium in the summer was the injury sustained by teammate Eli Junior Kroupi, leaving Bournemouth short of attacking options.
Despite that, Konur believes Evanilson is set to become one of the most coveted players available when the winter market opens in the new year.
Manchester United had also been eager to sign a new striker over the summer, with their pursuit largely dependent on the future of Joshua Zirkzee at Old Trafford.
Zirkzee ultimately remained at the club, meaning no new forward arrived, but the Red Devils could revisit their need for attacking reinforcement when January arrives.
Arsenal, however, appear the more likely destination, with Viktor Gyokeres yet to start a single Premier League game this season despite his summer arrival at the Emirates.
Kai Havertz has instead been preferred in the number nine role by Mikel Arteta, fuelling speculation that the Gunners boss may be seeking a new striker to lead the line long-term.
Evanilson brings a compelling profile to any top-six club, combining sharp finishing, physical presence in the box, and an ability to contribute to build-up play and pressing from advanced positions.
The Brazilian’s proven quality in the Premier League gives him an edge over many alternative options, making him an attractive proposition for clubs operating at the highest level of European football.
It remains to be seen whether Evanilson becomes Arsenal’s primary January target, or whether Julian Alvarez of Atletico Madrid or the now-injured Eli Junior Kroupi rank higher on their list of priorities.
