Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes, with contacts already made with the Brazilian international’s camp.
The Gunners have been on the lookout for attacking reinforcements following the departures of both Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard from the club.
Christos Tzolis was brought in to bolster the attack, but for much of last month it was expected that another forward would arrive alongside the Greek winger.
Arsenal had previously held strong interest in Vinicius Junior amid a contract standoff between the Brazilian and Real Madrid.
However, Vinicius Junior ultimately extended his stay at the Bernabeu, effectively ending any prospect of him making a move to the Emirates.
Journalist Graeme Bailey has reported that Arsenal could yet return for a Real Madrid superstar, with Rodrygo Goes now believed to be firmly in their sights.
The 25-year-old enters the final year of his contract with Real Madrid in summer 2027, giving the Gunners potential leverage in any transfer negotiations.
Rodrygo is currently recovering from an ACL injury and is not expected to return to action until early next year, which rules out any possibility of a January transfer window move.
His lengthy layoff combined with his contractual situation has seen his valuation drop significantly, with Transfermarkt currently pricing the forward at just £39 million.
Real Madrid are believed to be open to selling Rodrygo, and Arsenal will be monitoring his situation closely as his contract winds down over the coming months.
With Arteta continuing to shape his squad, landing a player of Rodrygo’s quality at a reduced fee could represent outstanding value for the north London club.
