Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on signing Boca Juniors forward Leonel Flores, according to Argentine outlet El Intransigente.
The 19-year-old has been catching the attention of several top European clubs following a string of impressive performances for the Argentine giants this season.
Flores began his youth career at El Zorzal before joining Boca Juniors’ academy at just seven years of age, working his way through the club’s renowned development system.
After progressing through the youth ranks, the young forward made his senior debut earlier this year and has since established himself as a regular starter for the Buenos Aires club.
Across 12 appearances in all competitions, Flores has contributed two goals and one assist, also playing a part in helping Boca Juniors reach the CONMEBOL Sudamericana quarter-final.
His eye-catching displays have not gone unnoticed, with El Intransigente reporting that Brighton and Hove Albion and FC Porto have also registered their interest in the teenager alongside Spurs.
The competition for his signature underlines just how highly Flores is regarded among European scouts, despite his limited senior experience at club level so far.
Tottenham’s interest in young talent comes at a time when the north London club are looking to build for the future under manager Roberto De Zerbi, who was handed significant funds in the summer transfer window.
However, the early signs under De Zerbi have been concerning, with Spurs losing their opening two Premier League matches against Brentford and Newcastle United by an aggregate score of 5-0.
