Rangers are prepared to sell striker Youssef Chermiti this summer, with the club setting a firm asking price of around £25m for the forward.

Turkish reporter Sergen Dag has revealed that the Ibrox club’s 49ers ownership group are ready to approve a sale if Galatasaray match that valuation.

The Turkish giants are searching for a new striker and Chermiti has emerged as a key target on their shortlist ahead of the summer window.

Rangers signed Chermiti for approximately £8m just twelve months ago, meaning a £25m deal would represent a significant profit on the investment.

If the move were to go through, it would make Chermiti the most expensive sale in the club’s history, surpassing Calvin Bassey’s £19.6m move to Ajax in 2022.

The timing of the potential sale is made easier by Rangers’ recent move to bring in Lawrence Shankland, who swapped the Hearts captaincy for a chance to join his boyhood club.

Shankland spoke about his excitement upon signing, saying: “To join my boyhood club, somewhere that I’ve always had a dream to play, and to get that opportunity, especially in the later stages of your career, I’m just happy and excited to get that opportunity.”

The Scotland forward added: “It can give you that wee boost and hopefully it does going into these games.”

Chermiti himself delivered moments of genuine quality during his debut Scottish Premiership season, scoring 15 league goals in total.

Seven of those 15 goals came in matches against title rivals Celtic and Hearts, underlining his ability to produce on the biggest occasions.

Manager Danny Rohl was effusive in his praise for the forward during the season, going as far as calling the striker “outstanding” at points throughout the campaign.

Despite that praise, the financial case for accepting a £25m bid is difficult for Rangers to ignore given the transformative impact such funds could have on squad building.

Ibrox chiefs are already active in pursuit of further additions, with Josh Windass, Dan Neil and Luke Graham all said to be on their radar this summer.

A record-breaking sale of Chermiti would give Rohl significant resources to accelerate that overhaul and strengthen the squad ahead of a title challenge next season.
