Arsenal are weighing up a potential move for Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White as the summer transfer window approaches.
The Gunners are prioritising reinforcements in their attacking department following a strong but ultimately bittersweet campaign in 2025/26.
Mikel Arteta’s side ended their 22-year wait for the Premier League title but fell agonisingly short of Champions League glory, losing to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with Aston Villa playmaker Morgan Rogers in recent days, with the 23-year-old emerging as a key target for the north London club.
However, PSG are also reportedly interested in Rogers, meaning Arsenal could face fierce competition for the Englishman’s signature this summer.
According to The Sun, Gibbs-White has emerged as a secondary option for Arsenal should they fail to land Rogers from the Europa League holders.
Rogers accumulated 26 goal involvements for Villa last season, just one more than the 25 Gibbs-White registered for Forest across the same campaign.
A key difference between the two players is their positional profile, with Rogers comfortable operating from the left flank or in attacking midfield, while Gibbs-White is considered an out-and-out number 10.
Rogers also stands out in chance creation efficiency, missing just four big chances in the Premier League last season compared to a combined 15 for Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli.
The former Manchester City graduate is also noted for his willingness to shoot from distance, a quality that Trossard and Martinelli have shown reluctance to replicate during their time at the Emirates.
Arsenal already possess a number of attacking midfield options, with Martin Odegaard, Eberechi Eze, and Max Dowman all filling that role at various points during the last campaign.
Given Gibbs-White’s lack of experience as a winger and Arsenal’s existing depth in attacking midfield, it seems unlikely the club would make a significant financial commitment to sign him out of position.
The pursuit of Rogers appears to remain the priority, with Gibbs-White serving only as a contingency plan rather than a genuine first-choice target for Arteta this summer.
