Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly planning to make a move for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise starlet Anan Khalaily, according to The Athletic.
The 21-year-old joined USG from Maccabi Haifa in 2024 and has quickly established himself as a key figure in the Belgian side’s starting lineup.
Since arriving in Belgium, Khalaily has helped his club win the Belgian Pro League and a couple of major domestic cup competitions, demonstrating his quality at a young age.
Last season, the youngster registered 12 goal contributions across 49 appearances in all competitions, also contributing to 12 clean sheets for his side.
His performances have not gone unnoticed at international level either, with Khalaily now securing a regular place in the Israeli national team.
The Athletic report that Tottenham have registered their interest in Khalaily after being impressed by his recent eye-catching performances for the Belgian outfit.
However, Spurs face stiff competition in the race for his signature, with Newcastle United also understood to be monitoring the highly-rated defender closely.
Transfermarkt values Khalaily at around £20m, and with just two years remaining on his contract, USG may look to sell this summer to maximise their return on the player.
The versatile Khalaily primarily operates as a right wing-back but is equally comfortable on the right wing, possessing pace, technical ability, and strong defensive attributes.
Tottenham currently have Pedro Porro and Djed Spence as options at right-back, but Porro has been linked with a departure from the club this summer.
It appears Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi is already identifying potential replacements for Porro should the Spaniard leave north London before the transfer window closes.
De Zerbi has been busy reshaping his squad after helping Tottenham survive relegation on the final day of last season, with a defensive overhaul at the top of his priority list.
The club have already completed the signing of Andy Robertson and are reported to be close to bringing in Marcos Senesi on a free transfer.
De Zerbi is also understood to want to sign Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton as part of his ambitious plans to transform Tottenham’s backline ahead of next season.
