Manchester United have set their sights on Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, with the club reportedly dreaming of bringing the Nigerian forward to Old Trafford.
The 27-year-old has been one of the most prolific strikers in European football, contributing 44 goal involvements across all competitions during his debut campaign in Turkiye.
Osimhen followed that up with an impressive 22 goals and six assists last term, cementing his status as one of the most dangerous forwards outside Europe’s top five leagues.
The striker initially joined Galatasaray on loan in 2024 after helping Napoli win the Serie A title, before the deal was made permanent the following year.
He has since won two Super Lig titles and a domestic cup competition with the Istanbul club, building a remarkable record in Turkish football.
According to Caught Offside, United manager Michael Carrick is looking to sign an experienced striker to provide support for Benjamin Sesko, with Osimhen identified as the primary target.
Landing the Nigerian will not be straightforward, however, as he is valued at around £65m by Transfermarkt and remains under contract with Galatasaray until 2029.
United have reportedly identified cheaper alternatives should the Osimhen pursuit prove unsuccessful, with Jean-Philippe Mateta, Dusan Vlahovic, Robert Lewandowski, and Eli Junior Kroupi all on their radar.
Kroupi has attracted strong interest from multiple clubs including Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, and Liverpool, while AFC Bournemouth are said to be keen on retaining the Frenchman.
Currently, Joshua Zirkzee serves as Sesko’s backup, but the Dutchman has struggled to make a convincing impact in the Premier League since his move from Bologna.
Carrick has at times deployed Bryan Mbeumo as a centre-forward option, although the Cameroonian is naturally a right-winger rather than a specialist striker.
Osimhen offers an appealing profile as a 6ft 1in forward who combines pace, aerial ability, and a natural poacher’s instinct inside the box with strong movement off the ball.
His efficiency from the penalty spot and his work rate without possession add further value to a striker who would significantly upgrade United’s attacking options.
One concern surrounding any potential deal is Osimhen’s injury history, and Carrick’s side will need to carefully assess his fitness record before committing to a move.
United will be hopeful of resolving their striking situation before the window closes, as the club looks to build a squad capable of competing at the highest level next season.
