Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, with the 25-year-old now emerging as a genuine transfer target for the Gunners.

Jones came through Liverpool’s youth academy and has gone on to enjoy considerable success at Anfield during his senior career so far.

His honours with the club include two Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy, and several other major cup competitions across his time on Merseyside.

Despite those achievements, Jones has largely been used as a rotational option rather than a guaranteed starter throughout his time with the Reds.

His current contract is set to expire at the end of next season, and that situation has naturally prompted growing speculation about his long-term future at the club.

According to a report via TEAMtalk, Arsenal are big fans of the Englishman and could make a concrete approach to secure his services in this transfer window.

Inter Milan are also in the running for Jones, with the midfielder reported to be open to joining the Italian giants this summer.

The Nerazzurri have already had two proposals, worth up to £21m, rejected by Liverpool, who are holding out for a fee of around £35m for their academy graduate.

Should Inter fail to complete the deal, Jones is said to be ready to make the move to the Emirates Stadium, while Aston Villa have also been credited with interest.

Jones is a technically gifted box-to-box midfielder by trait but is also comfortable in the deep-lying playmaker position, and can even provide cover at right-back when required.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is understood to be seeking midfield reinforcements this summer following Christian Norgaard’s struggles to break into the starting line-up last term.

The Gunners have been linked with a number of midfielders in recent weeks, including Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes, Ayyoub Bouaddi, and Alex Scott.

Jones represents a potentially more affordable option compared to some of those other targets, which could make him an attractive proposition for Arsenal’s recruitment team.

However, the Liverpool midfielder has experienced fitness problems in recent years, and that injury record is something Arsenal will need to consider carefully before formalising any approach.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will move decisively to sign Jones this summer, but his name is now firmly in the conversation at the Emirates.
