Arsenal are closing in on a summer move for Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis, with the Greek international reportedly determined to join the Gunners above all other suitors.
Journalist Dimitris Manakos has reported that Tzolis “only wants” to join Arsenal, and is prepared to wait despite an enquiry from Borussia Dortmund.
Reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed that Arsenal are in contact with the representatives of the 24-year-old winger.
The north London club is actively looking to reinforce their left wing department this summer, with existing personnel changes already underway at the Emirates.
Arsenal have agreed to sell Leandro Trossard to Besiktas for £17 million, with the Belgium international having finalised personal terms with the Istanbul club.
Trossard’s departure appears a formality, and his exit is expected to clear the path for Arsenal to push through a deal for Tzolis in the coming weeks.
Arsenal are reportedly in advanced discussions with Brugge, and a package worth £35 million could be finalised for the winger in the near future.
Tzolis has already given the green light for the transfer, meaning the final decision now effectively rests with Arsenal once Trossard formally departs.
The winger enjoyed a remarkable campaign for Brugge last season, contributing 22 goals and 29 assists from 52 appearances across all competitions.
Tzolis also demonstrated his quality at the highest level in Europe, registering goal contributions in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, and Atalanta.
While the Pro League is widely considered inferior to the Premier League in overall quality, those Champions League performances significantly boosted his profile among top clubs.
His dribbling ability, pace on the counter-attack, and capacity to score and create from tight spaces make him a natural fit for Arsenal’s attacking system.
Tzolis is expected to serve as a deputy option on the left wing, with Arsenal also pursuing a more prominent addition to the position.
Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers is reportedly the priority target for the attacking role, though Arsenal have yet to make a formal offer for the England international, who is currently at the World Cup.
