Manchester United have made formal enquiries over the possibility of signing Crystal Palace forward Ismaila Sarr this summer, according to Footmercato.
The 28-year-old Senegal international has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most reliable forwards since first arriving in England in 2019.
Sarr initially joined Watford on a then club-record fee, going on to make 131 appearances for the Hornets and netting 34 goals across his time there.
Among his most memorable moments in a Watford shirt was a hat-trick in a stunning 3-0 victory over Liverpool back in February 2020.
A move to Marseille followed in the summer of 2023, but his spell in France failed to deliver as hoped, prompting a return to England with Crystal Palace.
At Selhurst Park, Sarr has thrived, becoming a key contributor as Palace enjoyed a remarkable run of success, winning the FA Cup, Community Shield and UEFA Europa Conference League.
He delivered 23 goal contributions across all competitions last season, making him one of the most sought-after attackers heading into the summer transfer window.
United have shortlisted Sarr among their potential attacking targets, though Footmercato notes he is not the club’s immediate priority option at this stage.
What could accelerate any potential deal is Sarr’s own desire to join the club, with the forward making his feelings about Manchester United very clear in a recent interview via GOAL.
“My dream club? Honestly, there is only one club. I love Manchester United with all my heart, and I am one of its biggest fans,” he said.
However, Sarr acknowledged that any departure from Palace ultimately rests with the club rather than himself, given his existing contract situation.
“I have a 3-year contract with Crystal Palace. It is up to them to decide. Football is my profession, and I enjoy playing it,” he added.
Palace are expected to demand a fee well above Sarr’s current £34 million Transfermarkt valuation if they are to sanction his exit this summer.
Meanwhile, United continue preparations for the new season under Michael Carrick, with the squad having suffered a defeat to Wrexham in their opening pre-season fixture.
