Manchester United have joined Liverpool in the pursuit of Chelsea winger Pedro Neto, according to journalist Ekrem Konur.
Michael Carrick is looking to strengthen his attacking options ahead of Manchester United’s return to the Champions League in the 2026/27 season.
Neto produced an impressive campaign for Chelsea last season, registering 10 goals and 10 assists across all competitions to total 20 goal contributions.
The Portuguese winger is currently valued at £51 million on Transfermarkt and is contracted to Chelsea until 2031, giving the Blues significant leverage in any negotiations.
Matheus Cunha and Amad Diallo served as Carrick’s preferred wide options for much of last season, but the step up to European competition has highlighted the need for additional quality in the final third.
Chelsea’s summer business could play a key role in Neto’s future, with Morgan Rogers arriving from Aston Villa and adding further competition for wide positions under Xabi Alonso.
The departure of Alejandro Garnacho to Aston Villa has also prompted suggestions that Chelsea may look to use Neto as a source of transfer funds, given the club’s need to balance its accounts.
Neto himself may be attracted by the prospect of Champions League football, which could give both Liverpool and Manchester United an advantage in any potential deal.
Liverpool are also tracking Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola, who is understood to be their primary transfer target in the wide areas this window.
Between the two Premier League clubs, Liverpool could hold a stronger position in the race for Neto, with United’s pursuit potentially dependent on how Marcus Rashford’s situation is resolved.
Rashford remains welcome in Carrick’s squad and, unless a suitable offer arrives for the England forward, United may ultimately hold back from signing another wide player this summer.
