Both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have reportedly sent scouts to monitor GD Guadalajara forward Hugo Camberos, according to Mexican outlet TUDN.
The 19-year-old winger caught the attention of both North London clubs during Mexico’s U20 CONCACAF Championship clash against Guatemala.
Camberos made a strong impression in that fixture, scoring a goal as Mexico ran out comfortable 4-0 winners over their opponents.
Scouts from Tottenham were in attendance to assess the teenager, with Arsenal representatives also present to watch him perform at close quarters.
Spurs have been busy reshaping their squad under Roberto De Zerbi this summer after a difficult campaign last term, bringing in several new faces across multiple positions.
The club strengthened defensively by signing Andrew Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Jan Paul van Hecke before adding Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali to bolster the midfield.
Tottenham have since turned their attention to attacking reinforcements, with Savinho, Cody Gakpo, and Eli Junior Kroupi all being among the names linked with a move to the club.
Camberos is valued at approximately £2m by Transfermarkt and has entered the final two years of his contract at Guadalajara, who are not desperate to sell this summer.
However, interest from Premier League clubs of Arsenal and Tottenham’s stature could eventually force the Mexican side’s hand if formal bids are submitted.
The teenage winger is naturally right-footed and predominantly operates on the right flank, though he is also capable of playing effectively on the left side.
His key strengths include pace, the ability to dribble past defenders in tight spaces, and a knack for delivering quality crosses from wide positions.
Arsenal currently have Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke available as right-flank options, meaning reinforcement on that side of the attack is not an immediate priority for the club.
The Gunners’ focus has instead been on strengthening the left flank, particularly after selling Leandro Trossard and subsequently bringing in Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge as a replacement.
Mikel Arteta is said to remain keen on signing a marquee left-winger, with Arsenal continuing to be linked with several candidates as the summer window progresses.
Camberos represents an exciting long-term prospect, and whichever club secures his signature could be landing a significant talent at a relatively modest transfer fee.
