Tottenham Hotspur are pursuing a move to sign Nigerian international striker Victor Osimhen from Galatasaray this summer transfer window.
According to CaughtOffside, Spurs have received the green light to initiate formal contact with the striker’s camp over a potential deal.
Osimhen racked up 30 goal contributions across all competitions last season, including an impressive ten in ten UEFA Champions League appearances.
The forward has been described as ‘phenomenal’ by former Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti, underlining the widespread respect he commands across European football.
Tottenham have already submitted opening bids of £50m and £55m to Galatasaray, who are holding firm on a £65m asking price for their prized striker.
The report adds that Spurs are optimistic that agreeing personal terms with Osimhen would not prove to be a significant obstacle in negotiations.
Osimhen first made his name on the global stage at the U17 World Cup, where he claimed the Golden Boot with a record-breaking ten goals for Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets.
He went on to win the Serie A Golden Boot with Napoli in the 2022-23 season after netting 26 goals, establishing himself as one of Europe’s most dangerous forwards.
After joining Galatasaray, he wasted little time making an impact in Turkey, winning the 2024-25 Gol Kral? award as the Süper Lig’s top scorer with 26 goals despite arriving three weeks into the season.
Last season, though hampered by injury, Osimhen still managed 22 goals, losing the top scorer award to compatriot Paul Onuachu in what was a disrupted campaign.
Tottenham face serious competition for his signature, with Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea both interested, alongside La Liga side Atletico Madrid.
That level of competition could push Galatasaray’s valuation even higher, making negotiations increasingly complex for all clubs involved.
A successful signing would hand manager Roberto De Zerbi a significant attacking upgrade as Spurs look to challenge at the top of the Premier League.
