West Ham United are stepping up their pursuit of Sunderland centre-forward Wilson Isidor, submitting a bid worth more than £12m for the 25-year-old Frenchman.
The offer surpasses Hull City’s previous £12m proposal for Isidor, signalling the Hammers’ intent to secure a proven Championship goalscorer this summer.
West Ham’s push for attacking reinforcements comes as the club continues to rebuild following their relegation from the Premier League last season.
The bid for Isidor arrived on the same day that West Ham secured a deal to sign Tottenham winger Manor Solomon, further strengthening Nuno Espirito Santo’s attacking options.
Despite Solomon’s imminent arrival, the east London club remain active in the market for a frontline striker capable of leading the line in the Championship.
Isidor proved his quality during Sunderland’s promotion campaign, scoring 13 goals and registering two assists across 46 Championship appearances to finish as the club’s leading scorer.
He was the only Sunderland player to hit double figures that season, and he maintained that form into the Premier League, scoring six league goals during the club’s first season back in the top flight.
Competition for the Haiti international is intensifying, with Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town also expected to enter the race with a proposed £14m bid.
Despite interest from multiple clubs, Isidor is reportedly in no rush to leave the Stadium of Light, meaning both player and club will need persuading before any deal is concluded.
Sunderland are understood to be open to selling at the right price, though Isidor’s reluctance to move quickly gives the Black Cats significant leverage in any negotiations.
His former manager Regis Le Bris described Isidor as an “emotional” player, a quality that could endear him to the West Ham supporters as the club adapts to life outside the top flight.
Capable of leading the line or drifting into wider areas, Isidor’s pace and pressing ability are seen as attributes that fit naturally within Nuno Espirito Santo’s preferred system.
His arrival alongside Solomon would give West Ham genuine versatility in attack, with Jarrod Bowen also providing creativity from wide positions throughout the campaign.
Taty Castellanos impressed against Portsmouth in the EFL Cup with two goals, but Isidor would bring proven Championship experience to complement the existing options at the London Stadium.
