However, despite those impressive credentials, there is an argument that Spurs should be targeting a more proven option at the top level, with Victor Osimhen emerging as an alternative target.
Spurs reportedly submitted a £55m bid for the Galatasaray striker last week, with further reports indicating the Turkish club have set a £64m asking price for the Nigerian international.
Osimhen’s wages of £309k-per-week present a significant hurdle, though ENIC have already demonstrated a willingness to back De Zerbi with big money, securing both Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali this summer.
Those two midfielders represent excellent additions, but what Spurs truly need is an elite centre-forward capable of driving the club forward under their new manager.
Osimhen has scored 17 or more goals in each of his last five seasons, a remarkable record that highlights his consistency at the very highest level of the game.
His goal tallies across those campaigns make for extraordinary reading, with 18, 31, 17, 37, and 22 goals for Napoli and Galatasaray cementing his reputation as one of world football’s most clinical strikers.
At 27 years old, the Nigerian is hitting the peak years of his career, and a move to the Premier League has long felt like an inevitable next step for a player of his calibre.
Balogun is undoubtedly a talented player with an upward trajectory, but Osimhen offers a level of ruthlessness and consistency that puts him in a different bracket entirely.
Spurs are also exploring moves for Savinho and Cody Gakpo, with the Brazilian reportedly close to completing a transfer, though neither player offers a traditional central striking presence.
