Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Barcelona are all battling to secure the signature of Club Brugge forward Nicolo Tresoldi this summer.
The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the most coveted young strikers in European football after a stunning season in the Belgian Pro League.
Tresoldi contributed 19 goals and seven assists throughout the campaign, with only Christos Tzolis recording more goal involvements in the Club Brugge squad.
The Belgian side finished the season as champions, and Tresoldi’s contribution was central to their title-winning success across the entire campaign.
Club Brugge value the German under-21 international at between €45 million and €50 million, equivalent to roughly £32.5 million to £42.7 million.
Arsenal had previously registered interest in Tresoldi, while Roma also submitted a bid that was rejected before the current four-club pursuit fully took shape.
Como scout Ben Mattinson has praised the forward for his “excellent positioning” and “instincts in the penalty area,” also describing him as a “pacy” player suited to a front two.
Manchester United view Tresoldi as competition for striker Benjamin Sesko, though a deal may depend on offloading Joshua Zirkzee first to free up funds and squad space.
Chelsea are also prepared to move on current strikers, with both Liam Delap and Nicolas Jackson available, as the club looks to develop a long-term challenger for Joao Pedro.
Tottenham remain in the hunt despite heavy spending elsewhere this summer, with Tresoldi seen as a solution to their attacking issues after Randal Kolo Muani’s underwhelming loan spell ended.
Barcelona are reportedly considered early favourites for Tresoldi, with multiple sources claiming the Spanish club are “accelerating” their interest in the youngster.
However, Barcelona may struggle to meet Club Brugge’s asking price, which could ultimately open the door for a Premier League club to win the race.
Tresoldi has been described as the future of the German national team, following an impressive record at youth level that has attracted attention from clubs across Europe.
With the transfer window drawing toward its close, the competition for one of the continent’s most exciting young forwards looks set to intensify rapidly in the coming days.
