Chelsea and Liverpool are both reportedly eyeing a move to sign AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, according to Caught Offside.
The 22-year-old has built an impressive footballing journey, beginning his youth career at Senegal’s Galaxy FA before moving to Casa Sports.
Camara then joined Generation Foot in 2019, and after developing his game there, he secured a transfer to French side Metz.
Monaco came calling after being impressed by his performances at Stade Saint Symphorien, and the Ligue 1 club moved to sign him a couple of years ago.
In his debut season at Stade Louis II, Camara proved his worth immediately, registering nine goal contributions across 40 appearances in all competitions.
That campaign also saw him play a key role in helping Monaco secure qualification for Champions League football, underlining his importance to the squad.
This season, Camara has continued to impress, helping Monaco push for a top-three finish in Ligue 1, with the club sitting just three points behind third-placed Olympique de Marseille.
His performances at club level have also earned him a regular starting berth in the Senegal national team setup.
Monaco have placed a £65 million asking price on the midfielder, and both Chelsea and Liverpool are reportedly capable of meeting that valuation.
Camara is primarily a defensive midfielder but is also capable of operating in a box-to-box role, offering versatility to any manager who signs him.
He is noted for his pace, his comfort in possession, his ability to thread passes between the lines, and his efficiency in defensive duties.
Those attributes suggest Camara possesses exactly the physical and technical qualities needed to make an immediate impact in the Premier League.
Either Chelsea or Liverpool would be making a shrewd piece of business should they ultimately succeed in securing his signature this window.
