Liverpool are closing in on a blockbuster move for PSG winger Bradley Barcola, with a £100m fixed fee agreed between the two clubs and a further £20m in add-ons taking the deal to £120m total.
The 23-year-old Frenchman has been a long-standing target for the Reds this window, and the latest reports suggest the transfer is now edging toward completion after months of ongoing negotiations.
Barcola finished the 2025/26 season with 13 goals across all competitions, contributing six goal contributions in 16 Champions League matches as PSG claimed a second successive European title under Luis Enrique.
The winger also registered 21 goals in the campaign prior, underscoring the world-class quality in attacking areas that Andoni Iraola has been desperate to add to his frontline.
Despite the imminent arrival of Barcola, Iraola is still pushing for further attacking reinforcements before the transfer window slams shut on Tuesday evening.
Yankuba Minteh was heavily considered as an option, but his £80m asking price has proven a significant stumbling block, forcing Liverpool to explore other avenues in the final days of the window.
Crystal Palace winger Ismaila Sarr has now emerged as a serious alternative, with The Independent reporting that Liverpool are continuing to pursue the Senegalese international after an opening bid of £50m was rejected by Palace.
The report states the Reds view Sarr as an excellent alternative to Minteh, with the hierarchy willing to return to the negotiating table despite the failure of their first offer.
Galatasaray have also registered their own interest, meaning Liverpool could face late competition if they are unable to agree terms with Crystal Palace quickly enough.
Sarr’s output last season makes him an attractive proposition, as he netted nine goals in just 28 Premier League appearances, posting an average of 0.4 goals per 90 that placed him above every player currently at Anfield.
That figure also placed him above 85% of players in his position across Europe, highlighting just how productive the 28-year-old has been in the Premier League this season.
His direct style and pace caused consistent problems for opposition defences, with Sarr winning an impressive 1.7 fouls per 90 last term while also creating 1.5 chances per 90 for teammates.
Former coach Mady Toure once claimed during Sarr’s time at Watford that he could become “one of the best players in England,” and that prediction has ultimately proven to be well-founded.
The comparisons to Sadio Mane are difficult to ignore, given that both players are Senegalese wingers who would have made the move to Liverpool from a less-established Premier League club.
Mane himself spent six years at Anfield, making 269 appearances and scoring 120 goals while forming a devastating front three alongside Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.
Liverpool have struggled to find that same level of consistent attacking threat since Mane’s departure, and signing both Barcola and Sarr would represent a major statement of intent from the club.
The hierarchy have already committed enormous sums to strengthen the squad under Iraola, and the combined potential outlay on Barcola and Sarr would further underline their ambitions for the 2026/27 season.
With the window closing imminently, Liverpool will need to act quickly to secure Sarr’s signature and prevent Galatasaray or any other interested parties from disrupting their plans.
