Everton are reportedly eyeing a move to sign Sunderland defender Trai Hume, according to a report from ESPN.
The 24-year-old has been one of the standout full-backs in the Premier League after establishing himself as an undisputed starter at the Stadium of Light.
Hume originally joined Sunderland from Linfield FC back in 2022 and has developed significantly since making the move to the north-east of England.
He played a key role in helping Sunderland secure promotion during the 2024/25 campaign before proving himself at the top level of English football last term.
Across 40 appearances in all competitions, Hume registered three goal contributions and kept nine clean sheets, underlining his quality at both ends of the pitch.
The defender also helped Sunderland qualify for the Europa League, further cementing his reputation as one of the more exciting young full-backs in the division.
His performances have attracted interest from clubs beyond England, with sides from Spain and Germany also reportedly monitoring the Northern Ireland international.
Sunderland have Hume tied down until 2030, but the club are said to be open to cashing in on the defender late in the current transfer window.
The need for a right-back at Goodison Park has become increasingly clear, with Seamus Coleman having departed as a free agent and Nathan Patterson entering the final year of his contract.
Jake O’Brian and James Garner have both been used as makeshift options on the right side of defence, highlighting Everton’s need to bring in a specialist in that position.
