Liverpool have set their sights on PSV Eindhoven midfielder Paul Wanner, according to German football expert Christian Falk.
The 20-year-old has caught the attention of the Merseyside club after an impressive period of development in the Dutch top-flight.
Falk reported on the FC Bayern Insider website that Liverpool have expressed genuine interest in securing the young midfielder’s services.
Wanner began his football journey at SV Amtzell before progressing to FV Ravensburg as a youngster developing his craft.
He joined Bayern Munich’s renowned academy at just 12 years old, working his way steadily through one of European football’s most prestigious youth setups.
Despite making his first-team debut for Bayern Munich back in 2022, Wanner found it difficult to break into the starting lineup on a regular basis.
To gain valuable playing time and continue his development, the midfielder headed out on loan on a couple of occasions during his time at Bayern.
He eventually made a permanent move to PSV Eindhoven, where his career has gone from strength to strength in a short space of time.
Since arriving at Philips Stadion, Wanner has enjoyed considerable success, winning a league title and cementing himself as a key figure in the Dutch club’s setup.
His performances in the Eredivisie have also earned him a regular starting berth in the Austrian national team, underlining his rapid rise through the game.
Liverpool are now reportedly monitoring the situation closely, with the club clearly impressed by how the former Bayern man has matured as a player.
It remains to be seen whether the Reds will make a concrete move for Wanner in the January transfer window or wait until the summer.
PSV are unlikely to let the midfielder go without a fight, given the impact he has made since making his move to the Netherlands permanent.
