Gerald Ratner Confirmed As New Spurs Manager

Let me tale you a tale.

There once was a jeweller by the name of Gerald Ratner. Gerald had not one jewellery shop but lots. He rewrote the rulebook for jewellery retail. He piled ’em high and he sold ’em cheap. His shops had big gawdy posters in their windows and he employed his East End market stall techniques on the High Streets of Britain, boldly offering cut price schmutter.

One day in 1991, Gerald woke up, went to work as usual and then toddled off to make a speech at the Institute of Directors. Unfortunately that was the very day Gerald –  a pioneering and successful businessman – lost his ******* mind.

He stood before his peers and revealed that his jewellery was “total crap!” He went on say that that some of the earrings his shops sold were “cheaper than an M&S prawn sandwich but probably wouldn’t last as long!”.

By the time Gerald got home, he discovered that single handed he had wiped £500M off the value of his company.

And so to ‘IdiotGate’.

It beggars belief that Redschnapps has done a Ratner. It is stunningly obtuse for him to question his customers’ right of reply. He’s paid handsomely for managing a football club who’s fan’s constantly want more. He lives in unmitigated luxury doing a job that many dream of doing.

He swans about in top of the range motors and hand finished suits watching his mobile phone bleep while there are people in the NHS caring for incontinent pensioners in exchange annually for what he earns in a week.

It’s bewilderingly arrogant of him to call those that dare to call a radio station to voice their dissatisfaction, ‘idiots’.

I’ve made no secret about how I feel. I think on balance he’s done a good job. But his comments aren’t welcomed by anyone. Not by his supporters nor by his detractors.

Dead man squawking.

Let us be frank with ourselves. We have NOT had a good season considering the quality of our squad. We got knocked out of all competitions, drew far too many matches we should have been able to win and lost out on the fourth position in the Premier League. It is very wrong of Harry to call those disappointed fans like myself ‘idiots’. It is idioting of him to call them so. Perhaps, he does not feel for our club as much as we do.

Apart from our poor performances against teams of plumbers this season, what’s pissed me off most has been Old Redder’s repetitive BS about how great each opposing manager is or has been and what a great job THEY have done with their plumbers.

At the end of these 2-3 minute interviews you would come away thinking that all the PL clubs are as good as the Manures and all just as difficult to beat!!

It’s as if we should think ourselves lucky that we’re not fighting relegation. Perhaps that’s his favourite position in the table and he should have “2 from 8” stamped on his forehead.

Sadly, it is time for him to go.

Is manageritus a disease at Spurs?

I agree that Arry’s been the best thing since Burkinshaw but you don’t need to be a cad about it.

He’s the manager and Levy & Co [and this was via Arry ‘imself’] were pushing to spend to get a striker in last time around.

But Arry’s response was to literally have his pants pulled down in a wine gum buying expedition, ffs.

Any customer reference number in the world can suspend their disbelief when we don’t win every game 5-0.

But Arry’s response is to throw his toys out the pram when we dare to question why we can’t beat muck.

What grates is that we play well when it supposedly ‘counts’ against the big boys, yet act like shiftless wonkers against teams that relegation fodder.

This displays a problem. And he is the manager. So it’s his problem.

I do not want him sacked. But I do want him to wind it in and stop patronising us.

Birmingham fans aren’t like us. They in the main like being in the top flight and occasionally tilting the odd windmill. They look at McLeish and as long as they don’t get walloped by another Midlands side they aren’t too grumpy.

Everton fans aren’t like us. They in the main are mildly grateful that a manager with no essentially zero resources keeps them in the top half of the top flight.

United fans live by a near military code whereby the Commanding Officer, Sluralix exists based upon a dynasty of achievement. The expectations are the highest. The very real consequences of drawing a game to them is that their Title chances are dented.

I can cope [ain’t that sweet n’ dandy of me] with not achieving Utd’s success, but I’ll be damned if I’ll be spoken to like I’m a Brummmie.

That ain’t gonna happen. In my view there are big issues between him and Levy and he ain’t gonna rock that boat in public. It’s easier to pick on the justifiably dissatisfied supporters than it is your boss.

Perhaps he’s in a lose/lose position here for Levy won’t be happy if season ticket sales suffer because of what Redknapp has said.

spurs have always had idiot fans -= most of them camped at the park lane end and demonstrated their insight and intellect to an embarrassing degree every home game (love those toilet rolls, loved those obscenities – so hilarious – the chants full of such wit – and the punch ups – great stuff)

what century are you clowns living in? when will civilsation reach your squalid section of the borough – get a life – grow up and face the real world. we did well – bloody well. with a year off they can really go for it. we don’t have a big enough ground.we don’t have enough drawing power. .what you you think is the long term solution? sack everyone in sight

    jeez – cretins

Greavsie we don’t have a big enough ground.we don’t have enough drawing power.

What the fuck has the size of our stadium and drawing power got to do with taking 3 points out of a possible 18 from the bottom 3? That stat alone is a disgrace.

      Redknapp’s gone mental.

      • TMWNN says:

3 points from 6 games against the bottom 3. I wish one of these gutless journalists would confront Redknapp with that stat.

  • Kluffah Yid says:

We all seem to be bargaining for longevity and consistency in our management, but it seems very obvious to me and many others that Harry is not looking to hang around forever.

To me it feels like he’s good for getting out of trouble but not for maintaining excellence. We bought Palacios to fight off relegation (a superb job he did…) but he quickly found his limit when we were challenging in the top half.
