For £8M We Should Sign Him Up, For Sure…

The footballing world has been shaken to it’s very core at the news that Mr Scott Mosely Parker has according to the Sunday Mirror rebuffed the advances of Turkish bohemoths Fenerbahce in order that Uncle Arry can make what top ranking pundits anticipate to be an audacious swoop.

A million love songs and £8M later and the Tottingham’s supremo should have his man.

I’ve been pondering this deal – well there’s something iffy about this toaster I think it may be the thermostat and one’s mind tend to wander when staring at a butter dish – and am coming around to the idea of Parker’s 1940’s barnet sprouting out of the Lilywhite.

This whole Uncle Arry arm around the shoulder, he’s a top top player for sure business lost it’s charms on me a while back. Largely as my perception was of a bloke who was talking the same language as Crouch and Defoe but was left scratching his loaf when it can to Pav and Modders.

Modric I am convinced and this all supposition on my part is no more communicative with Arry than Pav or anyone else born beyond the chimes of Bow Bells. To an extent I believe that the Croat Cruyff is so good you could literally drop him into any team in the world and he’d do the business. He understands.

People describe some players as having a footballing brain. Occasionally this is to mask the fact they have yet to fully master cutlery, but more often to acknowledge that they are instinctively conversant in the nuances of the game.

Pav I admit is perhaps less so ‘with it’, but having some Cockney Sparra shouting Use the channels, drop in, in, in…oh my days. Pav! Pav! E’s deaf inne?. Release! Play it into …the… Oh for fu… at a bloke who’s English isn’t 100% isn’t the answer.

My point is that if we can meet somewhere in the middle, I might be happy. How sweet of me. But I hope you see where I’m coming from  here. I was put off Parker largely on the basis that I saw it as the start of Arry turning us into West Am 2.0.

Parker coming into replace Modders stories were clumsy and to be frank I think I bought into them a little. I’d argue all day that Pav is three or four times the player 3MP is, but we have a scenario whereby Crouchino is the only striker Arry has come out and said he’d be reluctant to sell.

It’s precisely this sort of thing that terrifies me. Even Arry knows he can’t defend Defoe anymore. No chance. We’ve heard all about ‘the injury’ (you’d think he’d been hit by a runaway truck if you didn’t know better) but the reality is Defoe has become so formulaic, so wound up and unimaginative I don’t know what the answer is. Nor do Spurs. That’s why they gave him a Jimmy Greaves DVD ferchrissakes.

What I want is a measured approach to the way our team is constructed and managed. Push and run. Not just Parker brought in to wallop the ball onto 3MP’s nut. I prefer Parker to Rodwell or perhaps any other of these £20m plus boys that have suddenly sprung up like daffodils. We need to get back into the Champions League and we’ll do more than damage our chances taking a punt that maybe doesn’t quite come off.

Hear me right on this, this isn’t me saying Bentley was a disaster so we should only ever buy proven pensioners in future, what I’m saying is that it’s a question of getting the balance right.

A small request: I put out in a blog some time back a small cry for help in relation to assistance with a HH podcast. There  was a brilliant response from a number of readers who appeared to be well worth talking to.

Unfortunately, I have discovered that the email I was using at that time has been made defunct – for want of a better word.

So I wasn’t being an ignorant git, my replies went into a void. If anyone who expressed an interest is still interested in assisting in the tech side then please mail me on the old faithful harryhotspur.blogspot.com@hotmail.co.uk.

Aye fankyou.

Modric isn’t going anywhere…yet. We’ve got one more season with him and our other best players, and if we don’t achieve next year then we’ll watch them walk. But they won’t, ‘cos next season will be our best since ’61….:-)) if we don;t win the EPL, we’ll be top 3 at least….like this comment.

have to say i’m with you there nipper. I really do reckon that next season has a make or break feel about it. If we win (in a more convincing way than the Sheen definition) make CL and bust open the cabal at the top then the likes of Modric, Bale et al will stay and continue to lap up the plaudits and praise from the likes of us.
If we don’t, however, i would be amazed if the said same players were still there the season after. I can understand why – Modric has said in the past that he owes something to Spurs for giving him his chance in the PL after being written off by some for being too small etc. but there’s only so much we can expect from someone of his talent – anyone can see he is head and shoulders above anyone else we have at the club at the moment.
I can’t see us giving in to anything less than a ridiculous offer. I don’t even think that Daniel’s head would be turned by 30/35mill, it would need to be 45+ i reckon.

I’d take 8mill for Parker if he replaced Jenarse rather than Modders…

Oh god here it comes….This season was make or break. We should have consolidated, pipped city, they would have panic bought and taken a massive backward step. we would have established ourselves for our vital players sakes, so they would NOT leave, and onward and upward. For me, forget all the shite dropped points, it was City at home ,when we shoulda been 4-0 at half time and the away game too where they left their half about 3 times…. but we still lost 1-0 of course. Sorry fellas and felesses i hope i am wrong… but….

Chuckled all the way trough that article. Only one disagreement its about the pav. 3MP to stay, Pav to go. Only because hes something different. Suppose its a case of who’s coming in.

If this gets through security, HH then this will be my first time on your site … Ah! The first time … I digress! I see your logic on this post and feel sufficiently moved to write in support your view that balance is essential. However, if indeed we are in for SP (and the journo at The Metro is correct – a rarity in itself I grant you – that the player wants to join us), it won’t happen until possibly the last minute of the transfer window – a case of who blinks first in the face-off between DL & Brady! West Ham have placed IMO a highly inflated price on Parker’s head … I reckon Levy has decided he is only prepared to pay £5m tops for someone who really has limited sell-on value.
Unlike 89Spurs, I feel confident that if reports are correct that we aren’t prepared to accept offers for Modders, then he will still be with us for next season (or the January window – if we are not clearly in the mix for CL football 2012/13). Luka has more than proved his loyalty to Spurs and if we aren’t prepared to entertain any of the paltry offers thus far … and stick to this policy … then I believe he will honour his side of the bargain. You are correct, 89Spurs, that money talks loads, but silly money has not been offered yet, and unless Chelski or Man City offer in excess of £45m, I firmly believe LM will be with us for the next Prem League season …

Getting increasingly ambivalent about our prospects for next few years, other big teams are making their moves we’re just hanging about like a piss head waiting to get nine pints down and go home with any ugly old bint – I think ‘go ugly early’ is the phrase. We are allegedly the only top flight club without scouts @ the U21 tournament??????

Levy needs to take the hit and get rid of the deadwood for whatever the market will pay, if we sell cheap put add on’s in the deals depending on future sell on fees.

Parker? from what I’ve seen I’d describe him as a short, one paced (slow), one dimensional average midfielder. He’ll fit right in with the other ‘average’ players we’ve accumulated over the years.

“arry’s court case starts soon, we may well start the season without a manager.

    • toddspur says:

and it was all going so nicely…………………….

I thought Arry was at the U21 tourn?

      • jfdit says:

sorry to piss on the ‘happy campers’ bonfire but I only ever say what I think or know on here, I’ve got no toxic agenda

I’ve watched quite a few wet spam games and whilst he’s been their best player that ain’t anything to brag about IMO. In a couple of games against better players like essian he was totally left for dead with their pace & power.

‘arry’s mean’t to be landing to do TV work but spending more time preparing for his trial :winke:
