Modders Opens His Heart To Croatian Press

Good morning again, then.

More from our boy. I have translated via Google as my Croatian is actually weaker than my English if you can imagine quite how feeble that must be.I have in brackets made tweaks that hopefully add to the report being more readable without in anyway attempting to put a spin on things.

So what happened to the 40-minute get-together with the President of the Spurs?

‘I must first say that I am sincerely disappointed with the way President Levy did communicate with me. He was waiting for me [it was a ]cold [and] pretty arrogant performance has given me the knowledge that [he] really do not care what I [said] to him.  It was [the] kind of approach only further convinced that [I wasn’t] wrong in the decision to change the environment.

[I reminded the] President of our gentlemen’s agreement of last summer when we were in Dubrovnik [and] agreed a contract extension with Tottenham. Then I talked openly with Levy that in perspective, if a concrete offer of a large team, then we will consider the offer and negotiate the best solution for all of us. The President then said “OK, we’ll sit and talk.” Now Levy to co-opt, do not want to talk to and he told me in a raunchy way that there is no chance for me to leave Tottenham …
What does this mean a raunchy way?

‘He threatened me, if you do not accept that his club’s stance, then they will send me on a bench or stand, and we talked about the option of other team Tottenham.
‘There is no doubt that Chelsea is interested in my transfer, after they sent a concrete offer from Tottenham which means that I want [to accept]. I know that the new Chelsea coach said he would like to see me in his team. Of course I am flattered [with]  interest in [me] this club that offers what all players dream, [which] is a fight for trophies on all fronts.

‘When [I]first [knew of ] Chelsea’s official offer, I felt that he came [the right] moment.  I talked a long time with his family and to the people whose opinions I hold, I thought, weighed, and finally realized that this [outcome] was best for me and the club.

What if Levy does not let go?

I have not thought about it at all because such a solution [is] definitely not good for anyone. Again, I have already told the President last summer that [should an ]offer as in the case of Chelsea [be made then both parties] should find an agreement on mutual satisfaction. So I hope that you will eventually understand the situation and that we will achieve harmony and disperse in an appropriate manner.

Smacks of naivety on the part of Modders and brinkmanship on the part of Levy & Co.

When people sign contracts they need to read what it is that both parties are agreeing to. I bet you Ledley King’s contract doesn’t say he can use the chairman’s pool.

I said on here a few weeks ago I suspected a ‘gentlemans agreement’ (always wondered why someone would sign a 6 yesr deal?) had been made to listen to offers if there is no champs league. Got to get the squad sorted for next season, thats the real priority – so sell to Citeh or abroad and move on. If not you can guarentee DL will hold out until the 11th hour and leave no time for replacements. Lets face until we get the new stadium we are going to struggle to establish oursleves in the top 4.

Only propblem is to get 45m+ ww will need to make Citeh think that Modric can go anywhere (to get price up), but you know Arry he will come out and tell the world that we are only listening to Citeh.

    Do the maths guys.

Last year, Lucunt Modric signed a 6 year deal at 45k a week, equalling a total of, wait for it, £14 million pounds over the life of the contract. If the guy had lost his form the next day, or had been injured for a long time, or whatever, he was still guaranteed £14 million according to his contract. Not a bad amount to retire on, and that’s why he signed that contract. (I note that neither Chelscum nor any other club made any offer for him then, so he was happy to take our contract).

This year, he’s had a good season, though like others above have noted, scored very few goals, was generally not especially effective in the last third of the pitch, but DID impress with his ball holding and general composure in the middle of the park.

This was enough for Chelscum to tap him up and offer him, so it’s reported, 3 times what he’s getting at Spurs, namely £135k per week.

So even on a 4 year contract, we’re talking a gross contract value of £28 million pounds. The £17 million difference between the £11 and a half-ish million remaining on his Spurs contract and the £28 million Chelscum are offering him is not something you can expect him to be “confused about”.

How many of you would turn down approx £17 million out of “loyalty”, even though it would be to our beloved club?

But that’s his problem, not ours. Levy should stand firm and make him honour his contract, or sit in the stands.

But by doing the maths, guys, it helps understand why Lucunt Modric has suddenly started squealing like an underpaid whore.

You are all too soft. If we sell him now what does that say to all our other players? It says, ‘if u fancy leaving then just kick up a fuss about wanting to win trophy’s’. If Modric can do it, next will be Bale, then Sandro… So here’s the score : Modric should be dropped. Its not my money so i don’t care if he’s sitting in the stands, keano is paid more and does just fine. We haven’t gone bust. In fact the books are good, and we have plenty of midfield cover who will relish the chance to play- a middle 4 of sandro, hudd, bale and lennon for example. Vdv + a striker up front. Let modric watch what we can do from the stands for the next 3 years, losing his place in croatia squad due to lack of games, (or being out of form if he is still picked). Meanwhile, ALL our other players are given a direct example of how not to play the chairman. Its a 16 million write-off plus 40k a week wasted, but it sends a message to all the rest. Look even if we let keane go for free we’ll save the 70k a week, so his seat in the stands goes to modric, and we are quids in. And maybe at christmas we can offer luca a loan deal to celtic or spam, see how he likes it.
Alternatively, Levy comes out and says he understands luca and doesn’t want to ruin the lads dreams. So if an offer of 45 mil comes in we will accept it, as long as luca then pays his way out of the remaining 5 years contract, plus the 16 mil we outlayed plus and wages he has accrued until now… Because remember, ITS NOT ABOUT THE MONEY, he wants to WIN TROPHIES. So we’ll have all the money back, and he can f off and win a little metal cup for his caravan shelf. Hows about it Luca u cnut?

Verbal/gentleman’s agreement isn’t worth the paper it’s written on……….as for bbb (the racist) must still rankle with you that adumovich’s first choice was Spurs and not you, second choice and second best, must have been the loyal 9,000 fans that went to the league cup game that swung it for him………no class, no style.
As for Modric defo tapped up, wasn’t adumovich’s yacht moored of the croatian coast over the summer? Let him rot in the reserves……..
