There Is A Light

I’m not talking about a faulty fridge here. Or the front of an oncoming train. I was taking my annual shower this morning. The acoustics c/o the Italian marble are tip top by the way. And The Waterboys My Dark Side was channeled. Well I told you it was a year since my last foray.

‘I’ve been hurt, but I’m alright because underneath, there is a light.’

Whatever transpires in the next days or perhaps even hours – if we are lucky to get a quick kill – it’s important to retain a sense of perspective. It hurts like hell when you make an emotional attachment to something and it blows up in your face.  I say you’re a liar if you say otherwise. You’re not impervious to the pain. Nobody is. We’re only ever working on that.

The sense of impending doom looming over this whole Modric business has left me feeling decidedly and understandably disenchanted with all things football shaped. Like Basil Fawlty on his last legs. ‘What is the point, Polly? I mean, what is the point?’

Players come and go. It’s worse now than it ever was. But it’s always been that way.

That said, there is a light. It’s a tad dim right now. But it’s a pilot light that does not go out. It’s a frequently flickering flame but one that you don’t need the freephone number Timothy Spall’s artificially dusky tones emit from every telly and radio. British Gaaaaaaaas.

Here are a couple of videos to help you get your appetite back courtesy of … twistedbutlogical. Take one daily and see how you feel after a day or two.

Kranjcar wants to play for spurs. He scores more than ‘fake hoddle’ so I say sell him for 35+million and sign a truly truly world class striker and a top midfielder. We currently have VDV Bale Lennon Hudd Kranjcar Sandro sign one or two more like bastos or mata and we r there. Then we can sell the deadwood a bit more leisurely with a squad already capable to challenge. With that money we can add yet more quality to the ranks and look forward to august

I love Niko, too… only trouble is, he’s slower than an asthmatic ant carrying a particularly heavy load of shopping, so playing him in the middle of the park is pretty suicidal in the Premiership…

Partner him with Hudd and you’d have double-trouble – it would only work with Sandro…

what’s all this irrational love for kranjcar about? he’s a decent player, but nothing more. and he certainly cant play central if VdV plays. we’d have the least mobile midfield in the country, and not be able to keep the ball.

sure modric has been a penis, but now all of a sudden kranjcar is the better player? madness.

I guess I’m justifying kranky playing
On his goal threat, but I’ve also seen him put in a tough tackling performance or two in centre mid, agreed he isnt as agile or as mobile as modders, but I think he still has something to offer to us, that’s all!

He looked pretty mobile coming in from the corner flag, evading tackles like Harry’s tax (allegedly)and slipping one under Given. Ooh er :ermm:

How is watching a montage of goals scored by players who wont be at the Lane next season meant to be make us feel better?

  • SASpur says:

Modric can go for all i care. Imagine this lineup come new season. GK Friedel, RWB Walker, CB Dawson & Gallas, LWB Bale, CM Sandro and Hud/Parker/Diarra, LAM Krancjer, RAM VDV, ST However we can get…. FFFF amazing… But that could just be me ranting:)

Cheers for the vid’s, pessimism has lifted slightly. Anyone feel nostalgic watching Keane and Defoe scoring for fun?

Looking at the 09-10 side, god we were good. Personally, I prefer Hudds to Modders everyday of the week anyway, if we can get 40mil for him tarrah!

We’ve got a much better defense/midfield now than in 09-10 with the likes of Sandro, Bale and Gallas coming in/finding their form plus with the youngsters (walker, rose) in the wings. Yes our strikers have lost all ability to score but a bit of confidence and can shift Crouch and spend that on a top striker I think we can finish 3+ next season. Even if we don’t buy anyone I think we can challenge for Champions League with the squad we have now – look at the injury’s from last season and that’s the reason we finished 5th.
