Hoddle!

Good morning.

I thought it might be nice to have an upbeat blog before we lose at Newcastle. Only kidding about the losing bit. But the mood has been a bit so-so for some while really. Nothing specific to this two bob blog, rather just the Interlull and such.

So scouring the Internet and all the recent stuff didn’t quite do it for me, but I was prompted to share this after seeing it turn up on Spurs Odyssey and this is quite simply a lovely bit of footage.

Perhaps we could solicit a few memories of the man and get ourselves all geared up for Sunday?Yes, I think we can.

Hoddle was a pivotal figure in my formative years as a young Tottingham fan. And watching this film brings it all back. You look at the state of the pitches and the state of the tackles and yet his feet danced with the ball. If he was playing today he would embarrass so many players who are routinely cooed over and insanely overvalued financially. Glenn was the real deal.

Did you see him play? Did you do his hair? Did you once let him your static caravan in West Runton? Talk to me…

Triffic player but doesn’t hold a candle to me as a manager

I would never freeze out a talented player like Rebrov in favour of a once great but now old and past it donkey like Sheringham

Sadly i only started supporting spurs the year he left so i remember very little about him at he time but the clips ive seen are great. Gazza is the best player ive seen in a spurs shirt. By the way wasnt it that donkey gary d (sorry my spelling is terrible) that he played up front instead of rebrov? Such a waste of a player.

I went to school with his daughters. Met him a few times, nice bloke.

He used to give out the trophies at our local teams end of season do.

Top player. If he was playing now he would have been much better appreciated by England. Robson always seemed to prefer Wilkins and Robson. Hoddle was seen as a luxury..

Shame he didnt acheive more as our manager.

Great memories of glenda. I used 2 turn up early as a kid waiting for the ground to open just to watch him warm up and the things he used to do with the ball at his feet. A magician with the ball.seen nothing like it since.

Yes. me too ! He used to do this thing where he would run towards a rolling ball, then turn and put his heel down in its path and let the ball run up the back of his leg, up his back, flick it up with the back of his neck and then do some juggling as it dropped in front of him.

I also remember one moment in a midweek game against Southampton when he and Ardiles were playing piggy in the middle with a Saints midfielder, knocking the ball over his head while he ran hopelessly backwards and forwards trying to stop them.

My all-time Spurs hero. No question.
