Good morning.

Bonfire night tonight and a chilling reminder just how man is by some distance the most stupid mammal on the planet. Our supermarkets sell alcohol and explosives. No really they do. And apparently tonight in the UK at least is the fire brigade’s busiest night of the year. And… warnings have been issued pretty much nationwide this morning that persons attacking Firemen tonight will face the full weight of the law.We need to issue stuff like this? Jesus wept.

So do try and follow the Firework Code; or at the very least try not to get lashed up and torch a fireman, there’s a love.

For those who manage to avoid arrest and still have the use of at least one eye come tomorrow tea time we’re away to BMJ’s latest Massive. I never particularly enjoy games at Craven Cottage; they are too frequently a bit of a lottery. That said our form is a bit sexy and I predict a victory by the margin of a single goal. As keen eyed readers will recall, I sold everything I owned to back us getting a draw in Russia so will not be sharing any hot tips with you this morning.

My team then:

Fulham beat Wigan 2-0 in their last Barclays Premier League outing, and will be hoping to prevent Spurs doing a West London double this weekend

Dempsey and Dembele were on target in that game, and Dempsey is now Fulham’s joint top goal scorer in the league along with Andy Johnson

Dempsey’s three goals have come from 30 attempts at goal with 63% on target, and he has also contributed three assists

Midfielder Dempsey has also been supporting in defensive play, making 20 interceptions and winning 74% of 19 tackles attempted this season

Dembele’s goal was his first of the season. The Belgian striker has been dangerous on the ball this season, and has completed 24 dribbles and 154 passes in his opponent’s half this season

Tottenham’s Gareth Bale was the fastest rising player in the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index moving up 108 places to 43rd after his double against QPR

Bale has now scored three goals from 27 shots, and had just one from 23 shots before game against QPR

The Welsh winger has also contributed 26 dribbles and 22 crosses for Spurs this season, and covered more ground than any other player against QPR (11,910 metres)

Rafael van der Vaart broke the Manchester stranglehold on the top three spots on the EA SPORTS Player

Performance Index by scoring his 6th goal in 5 Barclays Premier League games to go 2nd in the index
Van der Vaart has scored 6 goals and contributed 2 assists this season, meaning he has had a hand in one in three of Spurs’ goals

Just seen the results for today, don’t know if anyone else is aware, but based on cuurent league positions, the strongest team that Newcastle has beaten so far is 12th place Stoke. How many think the Geordies will be in the top 6 at Xmas/

During the meantime we are ahead of both Arse and the Bindippers on goal diff, but we have two games in hand on both. Cheatski are not the team they once were. At the moment, third looks very doable.

All is well with the world.

Spurredon – I am a little late to the dance, but I thought MOTM was Fredericks. Cudocini was terrific, but most shots were right at him. RF was our only player that was positive going forward every time on the ball. He also had an outstanding match at the back.

Actually, I think I like Fredericks better at RB than Walker. He is a much better one on one defender than Walker and looks to be his equal in defending set pieces and forward play.

So far, RF is the only one of our youth I have seen this season that looks the part. Jake and Carroll were terrible Thurs – I think they were a combined 0 for 30+ at delivering forward passes.

Fredericks is really a winger or attacking midfield player so he did well to cope at full back.
As you say he was positive unlike most of the rest of the team.

That seems to be a trait in HR to take wingers and use them as FB’s. Rose and Townsend can be added to that list. Maybe he is trying to reverse the resulyts he got from GB.

That surely has to be a picture of Gareth from a few years ago. Eerie.

Just followed your link, and out of curiosity, tried looking up Coulibaly. Couldn’t find mention of him in any of the player lists.

I hope that’s just an oversight, because I was think that we might see great things of him. He’s not 17 until Boxing Day.

I can the resemblance you are implying about the new GB.

Maybe we’ve got a agreement with Middle-Earth Rovers to take their youngsters? Hairy feet for a big bloke

Reading about our signing Coulibaly, and his goal scoring feats in the FIFA tournament, made me sit up. Then came his recent performances in the Next Gen tournament and the thought, even the hope, took hold that we might have a young Rooney on our hands.

So where is he? Not another injury? Another loaning out?

    • Harry Hotspur says:

I cannot believe you don’t already have several pairs, old man 8O

      • melcyid says:

less of the old man, Ill have you know I served my time on the terraces in the 60s,cheeky young whippersnapper :-D

        • Yachtsman says:

Not that I’ve anything against HH. He’s treated me right, sort of.

But when it comes to supporting one’s own, why I was on the terraces in the 40s. So you can count on me. I’ve dealt with a fair number of snipper snappers (that’s what they used to be called in my dad’s days) in my time. Nothing wrong with ’em, mind you. Just that they need to be reminded… You know what I mean?

    • Spurstacus says:

Thats neat. I like your monkey feet.

  • cc says:

No reason to change the team.

It is quite possible we are stronger with Gallas partnering King and Defoe partnering Adebayor.

But it is a long old season and they will get their chances.

So same team and another 2-1 win is what I expect.
