Good morning.
We’re on a run of league form that the most informed critics are describing as third best in the Premiership. Bolton by contrast have been bobbing about doing very little right.
Owen Coyle was if you recall correctly being tipped for greatness at one point. He was also being lined up by some as Aunty Wenger’s successor. So what went wrong? Well the Trotters can’t pin their dismal form on the whole ‘will she won’t she’ cloud hanging over Cahill’s head, that’s for sure.
Cahill’s alright but he’s no world beater. Another competent so overpriced Englishman. He’s not their David Silva nor their Luka Modric. No, Coyle’s been found out as a very average manager with a few almost half good players who lack not only real talent but the brains God gave them. If they can pull it off, they should flog Cahill for whatever the market will stand and
A singular word of caution on the Trotters is that whilst they have only won 3 games they hammered those that they beat. Could they hammer us? My conservative guess would be ‘not bloody likely.’
The team sheet should hold no surprises. Brad, King, PNB, Modders, Bale, Manu and anyone else who fancies it.
The The will be full of Client Reference numbers expecting to be entertained. Tottingham have yet to wallop anyone themselves this season apart from Liverpool and one can’t help but feel this is a golden opportunity to deliver a walloping.
Prediction 5-1.
I am not so confident. Stats about us having so manz chances is great but even v the Greeks we had 99% but only dodgy pen. Plus Bolton need to get points and they will play for 0-0. Meaning the longer it stays at 0-0 the more frustated we will get etc. I just hope we get the early goal and then go on to a comfortable win ( look at me stating the bleedin obvious )
What we must never forget about stats, is that all they do is show trends. They are an indicator of what might happen based on the past, but as David Beckham once said, “This is now the future”.
I see Corluka linked with a move to AC Roma, thought i would be selected as sub in CWC as 17 year old against them, manager went for experience, that was before most on this blog were born.
You played pro-football?
Many many moons ago, that`s why when we talk of the good old days, been there done it and got the T-shirt.
If i remember right it was AS Roma, great times though.
Still miss playing myself, even though my last game was just over 20 years ago,but I was never all that, too much speed-too little brain
I suppose that`s why i rate Ledley so highly, we haven`t lost with him in the team this season and the points dropped to Newc happened after he left the field. If the guy had been injury free throughout his career what a difference he would have added to Spurs and England.
Positioning and reading the game are as important as sheer speed, though it does not light up the crowd to the same extent but the 30-35 yard angled cross is often the match winner. Parker has the first two attributes but Thudd has the 3rd, now if we could morph the pair, Tom Parker would be priceless.
Was thinking on much the same lines in regards to Ledders. But would he still be with us if his knee wasn’t so much a problem or would he be the England captain in place of the present scumbag? Seems an eternity since watching him and Alton Thelwell debuting against Liverpool. We’ve had a strange time in regards to CH’s over the years. Peter Collins? there was one who had a great career snatched away through injury, real shame!
Even now though it`s not just what he does, it`s the calm composure, the towering prescense. Look how well Kaboul has come on by just learning from the master, BAE also, though i`d like to see him get the ball away quicker, the confidence from Parker/King allows Walker the freedom to assist the attack and it`s great to see players tracking back when required, did not think Harry could get us playing this way, so hats off for now.
How could you put a price on Ledley ?
After a poor game by his standards, I challenged the score given, because much of what Ledders does cannot be judged by his performance alone, it’s his influence over the team, which cannot be quantified, it’s the man’s sheer presence. I reckon we’ll be patching him and wheeling him out like El-Cid for years to come I hope.
Probably the best CH since Mike England in the late sixties. So happy Harry kept him and let woody go, keeps a physio in a job but pure poetry to watch, played his easiest game ever against Villa.
Mike was a tower of strength at the back, timing his tackles to perfection by reading the opponent, long legs got many a lost ball away to safety, had the ability to win a ball and use his close control to play it out of defence. Some would say that 14 goals out of 300 appearances for us was a defenders quota, but mike could also play in the centre forward role. He once scored a Hat-Trick against Burnley in 1974, sadly we lost the game 2-3 at the Lane.
Yeah, I was at that game, midweek 2-0 down and clawed it back only to lose it by yet another OG.Jack Taylor was the ‘effin ref who gave us bugger all, but never did- Roger Kirkpatrick, what a ref, mutton chops and all!
Roger Kirkpatrick, the most demonstrative ref on the planet. Remember him well.
I have never seen a player anything like as good as Mike England MBE in the air, nobody ever got the better of him, wish we had him playing alongside Ledders.
Here`s one for the anoraks, how many times has Ledley been booked ?
Has he ever been sent off ?
Has he ever given away a penalty ?
Answers on a postcard to Absolute Anoraks, PO Box N17.
I remember both those refs, Taylor and Kirkpatrick but i don`t want to swear on post. There has been many changes in the last 50 years of football but the refereeing decisions are just as bad as ever (best say nothing more).
HH I thought a 4-0 result against Tea Leaves was a walloping….. I am going on Davies to score first p(He has form against the Lillywhites) and then a walloping. Then again I am as good at predicting scorelines as that prostitute Lawrenson on the box.
which bookmaker is ade to score a hatrick 20/1 ?? i quite fancy that!!
Ladbrokes
Game on ;-)
NICE ONE MATE
We’ve played well and won, played poorly and won, the common denominator being we’ve had the run of the ball. You need that to rack up a score as well as confidence and teamwork. Where we’ve let ourselves down in the past is assuming the oppositions there for the taking and will just roll over and play dead because they’re playing Spurs. If we match Bolton’s work-rate, then we’ll be OK,if not, then that’s where the problems begin.
An early goal and we could annihilate them, 5-1 is optimistic but definitely do-able. VdV to score the first in a 4-2 is what this yid is going for…..BIOYLC :shifty:
OK, that’s the bet then I take it? Is Rafa fit to play?
I hope so…if he’s a non stater, so is my bet…
Just checked the official website and it says that Rafe is back in the frame so should be a starter…. ;-)
Don’t know what’s going on with my spelling today….first ‘stater’ then ‘Rafe’ are these the first signs of Dementia? or is my keyboard f*cked, hope it’s the latter… :dizzy2:
Cheers make… :shifty:
Ahhh, time travel strikes again…
I just assumed you were in ‘Musmode’ ;-)
Keyboard?, oh, yeah that thing-hang on, I’ll blow the fag-ash off it- blimey there’s numbers and letters, all sorts of buttons and shit-wow!
“Musmode”. Loving it.
Have a chrimbo party for the lads tomorrow. Imagine a few of us will achieve this state then. :daumen:
