Team For Cheatski

Good morning.

That charming bunch from Fulham are on their way over from Second Hand Fridge then and I can’t believe were in Gameweek 17 and I’ve yet to wheel out that hackneyed old phrase, ‘This game is pivotal’.

A reflection upon just how well things have been going, I guess.

The sinister spectre of injuries looms though and we are still waiting to see if the boy Bale will be fit. The Mirror says he will be, the Daily Mail says he won’t.

Azza Blud’s injury has been revealed as small tear that might be right in a matter of just two or three weeks. But the reality as we all know is that it’ll take that plus numerous ‘getting back to full match fitness’ appearances. So see you sometime in February old man.

Let’s hope that Arry includes Sandro whatever happens. His second half against Sunderland was superb. As I said in the ratings for that one, the trio of him, Pathe News Boy and Modric really is the business.

If Bale is banjaxed, I’d roll with Brad, A&E, Kaboul, King, Walker, Sandro, Modric, PNB, Kranjcar vdV and Adebayor.

Eye-catchers on the betting front for me have to be Modric as anytime goalscorer at 5/2 …and for those with an iron constitution Chelsea HT, Spurs FT is a whopping 22/1 both courtesy of Boylesports.

Oh and news in from a usually reliable source that David Beckham will be at The Lane tomorrow. Presumably as a spectator.

    Bale will play.

So we replace Lennon. Hopefully with Walker.
PNB and Sandro deep and Modders, VDV & Ade uppish!

    Kaboul at RB.

Do we need three CBs against this lot. They only have Drogba in the middle. The boy Sturridge is on our left flank. King will need to be on his game…as usual.

And a song…to the tune of “We are Tottenham, Super Tottenham from the Lane…

    Luka Modric, Luka Modric,
    Kuka Modric ain’t for sale.

    Cannot wait!

can ledley and bale play,it obviously determines the set up,if ledley isn’t there,i’d rather have a mid 3 of sandro, luka and parker with vdv behind ade and bale, cor blimey bale and ade upfront, that should do the job

If Bale is out then that line up is the best use of what we have got. It gives us pace and width and denies Chelsea the width they badly need to get from their full backs. They are very narrow unless their full backs give them width so as Maureen proved against them when he managed Inter you must deny their full backs width. That then makes them play down the middle where PNB and Sandro can clean up and spring attacks via Modders and DVD. The only negative is whether Ledley is fit as HR would not go for Bassong as a 3rd CB and also does HR want to use/risk 5-3-2 in such a big game. If Bale is out the only other option is to use Pienaar on the left and push Walker up to right wing with Kaboom going to right back but that means as much messing about as 3-5-2. Another option would be Pienaar right wing and either Rose or Krankie left. The problem with Krankie is his lack of pace and although Rose has bags of pace it is such a big game can he impose himself on their right back?
Conclusion 3-5-2 if Bale is out.

Happy Birthday to a real Spurs legend Steve Perryman, 60 today and one of the greatest ever Spurs. Thank you Steve and best wishes.
