Welcome to the teatime shift.

Threads from forums rarely have enough substance to spark entire blogs. I know this blog deteriorated beautifully and may I add effortlessly into an online gentlemen’s club for wise guys/shysters/bums/stiffs  many moons ago, but  you know what I mean.

Whilst I find most stats and such quite near coma inducing this yiddodiddodo chap from Spurs Community has not only appeared to have done his homework on Everton’s manager but perhaps also righted what somewhat of a wrong.

As football pulses through us and washes by our every waking moment it is easy sometimes for even the most watchful among us to lose sight of reality.

Praise upon David Moyes isn’t lavished, it’s actually deployed in far more sinister manner as it has somehow inexplicably become a ‘given’ .

Oh Moyesy. He’s your man. Nothing but bread and dripping and his magnificence have kept Everton where they are, you know…

This guff is on a par with the veil of mystery and wonder that has managed to enshroud Martin O’Neil. You can see where I’m a heading here… Here are the ‘spends’ figures as I have them.

The real criteria in comparing the relative performances of clubs (IMO) is the resource base available to the teams.

Everton have a 40K stadium, and Spurs have 36k. In a game where money talks, how is it we are streets ahead of Everton.

For those Everton fans who want to come on here and have a row, you should be aware that since the start of the PL, you have given us more points than any other team.

  • Harry Dodger says:

    2003 to 2011:

    Gross spend:

    Everton £106,050,500

Spuds £303,400,000 (nearly 3 times as much)

    Net spend:

    Everton £7,450,500

Spuds £113,150,000 (over 15 times as much)

    Total PL points:

    Everton 451

    Spuds 451 (exactly the same)

You Scousers make me laugh. I didn’t hear you complaining when you were owned by the Moores Family.

Your real problem is that you haven’t worked out how you can thieve players like you thieve everything else that ain’t nailed down.

    • seattlespursguy says:

What’s this do with the price of the starters last night?

Most of us “Spuds” (massively brilliant wit there, BTW; I hope your royalty check is on the way) will freely admit we’ve spunked out huge money on players, but that isn’t the point of the article.

The fact no Toffees can respond to the argument being made leads me to think you don’t have a valid response.

      • Harry Dodger says:

The argument being made was that the idea that Moyes has punched above his financial weight is a myth.

As the figures show, it’s a poor argument. (For more evidence, see the 2 clubs recent wage bills.)

        As for

“…leads me to think you don’t have a valid response.”

SpurredoninDublin’s your man for that. (Of course, all the looters in Tottenham last summer were scousers… )

        • Phil McAvity says:

Our manager is a Cockney geezer, your manager is a Jock. That makes my willy bigger than yours.

        • Frontwheel 2 says:

        • SpurredoninDublin says:

Well did you complain when the Moores Family were pumping all the money in? No? Didn’t think so!

So what it comes down to is that you spunked all the money, and now you expect us to feel sorry for you.

No matter how much we have spent over the years, we have done it with a smaller stadium than yours, and here we are, challenging the Mancs, while you are challenging Norwich and Stoke. Wow!

        • seattlespursguy says:

@Harry Dodger; sorry, that won’t wash. You cited figures relating to spends (gross & net) over 8 years, which have nothing to do with the article’s point that Everton had costlier talent starting last night than Spurs. The cult of Moyes seems to forget his expensive buys.

  • SpurredoninDublin says:

And another thing: If Mus were here, he would strongle the cuksocker Fellatio.

  • AFelching says:

But we know the wheels are comming off soon, we are near the top of the league and the conductor is heading to see the beak

  • Toffee says:

Saha didn’t got £5 million; he cost about £2 million, and Heitinga cost £5 million.
