Welcome to the teatime shift.

Threads from forums rarely have enough substance to spark entire blogs. I know this blog deteriorated beautifully and may I add effortlessly into an online gentlemen’s club for wise guys/shysters/bums/stiffs  many moons ago, but  you know what I mean.

Whilst I find most stats and such quite near coma inducing this yiddodiddodo chap from Spurs Community has not only appeared to have done his homework on Everton’s manager but perhaps also righted what somewhat of a wrong.

As football pulses through us and washes by our every waking moment it is easy sometimes for even the most watchful among us to lose sight of reality.

Praise upon David Moyes isn’t lavished, it’s actually deployed in far more sinister manner as it has somehow inexplicably become a ‘given’ .

Oh Moyesy. He’s your man. Nothing but bread and dripping and his magnificence have kept Everton where they are, you know…

This guff is on a par with the veil of mystery and wonder that has managed to enshroud Martin O’Neil. You can see where I’m a heading here… Here are the ‘spends’ figures as I have them.

I’ve always considered Spurs, Everton, Villa an Newcastle as teams of a similar ilk. In fact when you consider attendances we’re probably the smallest of them all. Now take into the equation we’re a London side, although most of our support comes from the suburbs as opposed to those mentioned, you must surely ask yourself how we can generate money and operate at a profit when those who’ve I’ve mentioned cannot? We’re a miracle club and it’s Levy who walks on water for me-each and every time when you compare him to the those chairman who chair our rivals. Doncha wish ya chairman was D Levy-well doncha?

      :daumen: In Levy we trust……

Hey, if you recall back in August, I bet my bollocks Levy wouldn’t flog Modders-you bet I trust-but I was sweating just a tad though to be honest ;-)

      @ Essex @12.09

You are spot on. We are not even in the top 10 when it comes to ground capacity. In terms of resources, we have no right to expect to be in the position we are today.

If we win the league this year it will bear comparison with the achievements of Ipswich and Burnley back in the 60’s. That was the last time clubs with such limited resources won the title. I do not include Blackburn in the 90’s because they had a sugardaddy.

As you seem to be implying, I think the credit rests with Levy. Teams like Everton need to be looking at us, and see how DL does it.

I guess it takes another (sort of) Irishman to see the feckin’ obvious, good God, we should be paid gazillions to point this out to anyone who’ll be scratching their heads and wondering why?

Moyes had no answer to the Spurs dominance, he could not substitute to cause damage as we had 62% possession. Everton played as did Villa, just to keep the score respectable whereas Swansea and WBA at least “Had a go”.

I thought they’d spent heavily of some real rubbish in the past as well. That Russian was pretty expensive and Yakubu wasn’t cheap as I recall, but I like Moyes as a bloke, but unfortunately, like Alladyce he uses the cash thing to paper over his own failings. We gambled on the likes of Berbatov and a few others and got far more back than we paid in, so indirectly I’d like to thank Man Utd for giving us a shedload of bucks and allowing us to spend even wiser with it!

  • Razspur says:

Kenwright must be the problem, where`s the Arteta money gone, i believe it was promised to Moyes to strengthen the squad in this window. He (Moyes) has done well on limited funds but i`m sure his patience is exhausted. Moyes is a good one, such Loyalty is rare in Football.

I’ve got a real soft spot for Everton, but bloody hell, enough with the bleedin’ hearts. They draw a bigger crowd and have bugger all apart from the Red’s to contend with in a City that’s supposedly a football mad, we’ve endured far more, after all the Goons have done two doubles as have Chelsea, who’ve won shitloads since Liverpool last won anything, yet we don’t go on about the being poor relations, despite our measly 36k attendances

      • Razspur says:

Moyes has taken them as far as humanly poss, without an immediate injection of funds he should prepare to move to a more ambitious club, Arsenal, Chelsea and Aston Villa spring to mind…..could see him improve any of them. Hell he might even move to the once great “Reds” as King Kenny seems to have lost his crown or should that be Crown Jewel.

        • essexian76 says:

Yeah Raz, fcuk ’em, I’m celebrating a day later as the Little Tesco’s was open-wahay! I’d love to see King Kenny (walk out when it gets tough) and those plastic scousers (Londoners without a soul) choke on their moonshine

        • Razspur says:

Did you get that BOGOF deal then ? Have one for me, i tend to start on Magners and hit the B & C after a few, enjoyed last night but can`t wait until Sat. Met a Female Spurs fan last night and she showed me her Tat, Cockerel on the Ball with Spurs written underneath, real classy like.

        • essexian76 says:

Misread tat, phew, was worried for you there for a mo, you know first date an’ all. No, had to pay full price-how I miss those overseas trips to France.

        • Razspur says:

The Tesco £20 for 3 cases is still on though but it was better value prior to Xmas, i`ve still got a fair hoard in. ASDA`s wine was good, must have 5 bottles left, Prep & Planning it`s the Army game.

    • Gilzeanwasgod says:

Kenwright the problem? How come? He isn’t an arab petro-billionaire – but people blame him for living in the real world. Everton were skint when he took over and kept them afloat. They are still broke but they are still here.
This transfer window shows that an icy wind of reality is blowing through football right now. Big clubs are trying to shift all the overpaid wasters off their books and there are no big money deals being done. Do you think Chelsea would have been haggling with Cahill over wages two years ago?
We should give thanks to Levy who has run the club as a proper business. It would have been so easy to do a Leeds or Portsmouth.

      • Razspur says:

Re-read my post of 12:04am where i refer to promised funds later becoming unavailable and you may understand the Everton managers predicament. I would hope we all appreciate Levy`s hand on the tiller and long may it continue.

        • Gilzeanwasgod says:

Sadly for Everton and most other clubs it’s the banks calling the shots not the chairman, the Arteta money was only ever going in one direction – Barclays. Still I see this morning that they have found a million down the back of the sofa to buy Gibson from MU so it’s not all bad news. That should secure 11th for another year!

        • Razspur says:

My point is that when a manager is publicly promised the Arteta funds by the Chairman, that same Manager feels undermined when the same funds are re-directed to cover Bank loans. How on earth can he have future confidence in the Chairman ? Particularly given the current Financial climate.
