Everything Hinges On Modric

Good afternoon.

First item of business has to be a big well done to BMJ for a last minute winner against the lonely mob from Woolwich. They rarely register on my radar, but the spectacle they made of themselves last night deserves a special mention. The must all had emanated from the same petri dish, surely?

They’re playing Fulham (badly) and are singing songs about us and that time expired handball queen Terry Henry. Then they get beat. You couldn’t make it up.

Elsewhere the Villa were well and truly shat on by the Swansea; 0-2 indoors. 3MP bojangled a brace in at Blackburn, Norwich firmly stamped a question mark over Neil Warnock as they won at Loftus Road and Cheatski snatched 3 points at Molineux.

So the Baggies tonight then. Let me blind you with some science. Their away record is better than their home one. By some way. They’ve played 9 games away. Won 4, drawn 2 and lost the other two other games that were then played. By them. Away from home.

Aside from the fact anyone’s mood must improve driving out the midlands, I think it’s as much to do with their support geting stuck in. These things count. I bet if Blackburn had beaten Manchester United at Ewood Park there’d still have been Kean Out flags being waved.

Looking at where their goals came from – of course, like most sides the answer is – inside the penalty area. But 17% of the Baggies’ net bursters came from ‘the right channel’ according to our friends at EA Sports. So if any of our coaching staff see this gem of information. Sort it out!

Looking at how we can make a difference you don’t need an MA in Looking At Things. Our defenders need to keep it tight, no mucking about playing at wing-backs and Luka Modric needs to dominate the game. His vision, tenacity and sheer quality is what is required in order we distinguish ourselves from what are an out and out second rate side.

Prediction? We’ll win by a single goal. That’s an awful way to carry on, I know. But as much as I would like to say we’ll give them a walloping of all times – that’s ambitious.

I’m having a bit of Raging Kaboul at 6/1  – Anytime Goalscorer – with our friends at Boylesports.

i see a repeat of the Sunderland game – playing against a well organised team who defend in numbers. so i’ll go 2 1 to Spurs. whatever, it’s a good test of how far we’ve come and how much the players want it!

We’ve got 4 winnable home games in Jan – one month isn’t the be-all and end all of a season long campaign – but we’ll get a good idea whether the Tottighams are contenders ( Norwich away showed we might well be) or also rans (Swansea away showed we still have it in us to blow it all away. I think with Daws back, Lennon and Ledders possibles – and hopefully PNB able to make a contribution tonight – we’ll show we’re made of sterner stuff these days! WBAs wins have come at Norwich, Villa, Blackburn and Barcodes – none of whom are setting the world alight methinks. 2 – 0 will do for me.

It is going to be another long night!
They have a number of players out with injuries. Brunt,Long,Olssen and Mulumba, as well as Reid and Gera.
After that great victory by Fulham last night, we have to cement our league position and increase the gap with the plebs below us.
At home we have the advantage, I know that they have a well drilled defence, but we should beat them, and to stamp our authority on the league

    COYS :daumen:

I can see vdv with a couple tonight….blonde and a brunette, legs as long as a lieing larynx salesman from leichtenstein… COYS is defoe fit yet

If we get the early goal, we should go on to win comfortably. I’m going for 4-0 with a brace from Bale, one from VdV and maybe a rare Modric goal…..we will be nervy though until we score…..

That glass is half full again. Early goal definitely needed. They can be a tough team to break down. Who do you think will take Parker’s place?

      • Hartley says:

Half full? I have gone for a 4-0 win Jim! As for PNB, if he’s not fit and Azza isn’t back I expect we’ll go with Livermore….

I know, “optimism”, i like it! I was kinda hoping Krankster might feature, I like Livermore, in some games hes looked the real deal but think he was a little out of his depth at Swansea. I reckon 2-0 would love Ade to get them, but realistically i think your nearer the mark with Bale. I hate to say it but Ade hasn’t looked sharp for a couple of games.
