The 10 O’Clocker: Wolves Schmolves

Guten tag.

Again. It’s the same song playing again on the bedside alarm clock radio. They say we’re young and we don’t know we won’t find out until we grow, well I don’t know if all that’s true…

Groundhog Day in N17 as yet again as we awake with the same trepidations about botching it against a less than brilliant side.  And then that pang of fear subsides a little because …we don’t do botch jobs anymore.

Wolves have only won away once this season in 10 games and that was against Blackburn. They’ve scored 8 times and conceded 19 times. In these 10 games they’ve just one clean sheet. This could be fun.

Prediction? I’m taking 7/1 on a 3 – 0 job from Boylesports

Hugely disappointing draw in a game that just never happened for us, so I guess it’s a fair result. my own take on events are as follows. I’ve no problem with Kaboul charging out, provided he actually does something with the ball,he didn’t. I’ve no problem with fancy flicks, provided the game’s won, it wasn’t. Would I have subbed Ade?-Yep, and if we’re looking for a cheaper forward who can actually hold the ball up,perhaps Fletcher’s our man. We carried a few out there today, but Bale and VDV really irritated today, can either actually take a free kick or corner? But it was always going to happen, and banana skins come in yellow and black the last time I saw one.

stop vdv from taking corners and free kicks. He needs to be in or around the area for dropped bals.He should have gone off instead of lennon. We are rubbish for corners for and against we never get to the ball first no matter who we are playing.

Where are all the strikers these days? Is it me or did even Boro have Ravanelli once? Ok billionaires have bought a few clubs around Europe but over the past three seasons we haven’t been able to get a proper deadly striker Since Berbatov. I Like Ade, think he’s great for the team but where is our Linekar or Klinsman who you just KNOW will score. Modric’s shooting is woeful and our set-pieces suck. Stoke make a living off of set pieces and throws, how many extra points could we gain if we improved these. Yes we are third but I want to see the club win the PL in my lifetime and with one or two additions this team could do it. Our scouting network and/or chairman are not doing the business we’ve needed a top-boy striker to call our own for ages. Our coaches need to get Bale and VDV to hit the target from free-kicks, both came with reputations as dead-ball specialists, that skill doesn’t just evaporate but it needs to be trained. Finally, we gotta have a plan for attacking and defending with set-pieces.
Old complaints, great that we’re third but not being first means we have to improve. It’s not beyond the club’s / this team’s power!

It seems to me that most teams have worked out that with 4-5-1, all they need to do is crowd out the centre of the 18 yd box, and Ade doesn’t have much room to manoeuvre. If that’s the case, surely the time has come to revert to 4-4-2

We’ll have no choice on Sunday, and if we approach the game with the same attitude and performance as we did today we’ll get another disappointment. Strange game, crowd were understanding and tried to get behind them, but it was almost as though we’d won it before kick-off, and I hate that sort of attitude. All those flicks and tricks pee me off when we haven’t won the right to show-boat.

Today was very dissappointing, no player rated 7.5 and some barely managed 5.0. The Croat was hopeless with shots at goal, the one he scored luckily nutmegged a wolf. Baler was a pale shaddow of the winger we adore. Lennon was under par as was Parker, Ade, BAE, Freidel and Kaboul.
Expected more but it could have been worse.

Wouldn’t consider Freidel in that department. It was Modric on the line who caused the problem. The goal apart Freidel didn’t put a paw wrong, but in fairness we huffed and puffed but couldn’t keep those Wolves at bay. Still don’t like the Dawson-Kaboul pairing and tactcally I thought we made a piggies ear out of the whole thing, but it’s easy being wise after the event, unfortunately for Harry he didn’t heed my warning about Fletcher, whose a real handful and a proper centre forward.
