Good morning.

Outside shot. That’s the only way to look at it.

Reuters are reporting this morning that the Italian gendarmes are not only investigating a suspected match fixing ring, but they have just hoisted Juve trainer Antonio Conte for questioning as well as actually arresting Lazio’s capitain, Stefano Mauri among about 19 others.

A police statement said five people had also been arrested in Hungary on suspicion of being part of an illegal international betting consortium said to be headed up by Singaporean gambling identity Tan Seet Eng.

‘In this part of the investigation, indications have emerged of manipulation in matches from the 2010-11 Serie A championship, including games between Lazio and Genoa and Lecce and Lazio.

Raffale Grassi, director of SCO, the police service responsible for the investigation told SkyTG24 television.

If ‘ifs and ands were pots and pans, there’d be no need for tinkers’, but if there is as much substance to this suspected criminal activity as there very well might be then Tottenham would be as well placed as anyone to appeal for any spare place that might emerge.

Lazio are in League Europa. This year only 3 italian clubs go to CL… ;)Milan, Juve and Udine..

  • and to think there was talk of the F-ing Conde coming to us if Harry went off the England.
He would have to match fix with us though.
I know Harry uses some Hancock Half Hour pictures but it does remind me of the one where he is betting the pools and he is watching a game and realizes if there is a draw he wins a fortune (the team at HT is winning 2-0 or something) so he goes down at half time and pretends he is the new owner and puts the winger in goal etc…funny but not as funny as some of the palaver that goes on in football.
We have had hope and we have had hope….but I am not outting my faith in this one. I dont even want to hear it. Its another false dream…..You think there is a chance? Could this really happen? Or do you think that Levy put this out to save Modric?

Bless your optimism, but no chance. UEFA and mob corruption (aka Roman Abramovich) seem well suited, and even if they’re pushed the investigation would have a Terry-esque timescale (hope people forget about it).
