It’s not that I believe it, but for me, the worst part of his management was his “rentaquotes” to the press.
On a “good” day, he frequently reminded me of someone with ADHD that had been “off his meds”. On a bad day, I think I could have hated him more than TMWNN.
Modric himself said last season that Levy promised not to stand in his way if a ‘Big Club at the right price’ made an offer, so Harry’s saying nothing that’s not common-knowledge.
The problem was one of interpretation when Chelsea came creeping-as they are not a Big Club and any price they offered wasn’t right!
It’s the language that is suspicious. There’s a difference between DL saying he can go if “a club” comes in for him at the right money, and HR saying that “DL said he can can go if RM come in for him at the right money”.
If you look at what HR says and it is true, if Cheatski were to come back for him now, “at the right money”, DL would be entitled to refuse again.
If Levy did promise Modric he could go to RM if they payed the right money, then Modric with cozy-ing up to Mourinho has worked against thet and its working against him now.
Mourinho is using Modric to get a better price and Levy is standing firm.
Its Modric’s fault if infact Harry is right.
The mystery is that it looked like Lucre was going to go on strike because he couldn’t get a move to Chelsea. So why would DL say, “Give us another year and if RM come in for you at the right money, you can go”? RM weren’t in the picture at the time.
Also, you might recall that HR hinted several times that DL was going to resolve the issue with a pay rise for Lucre.
As per usual, HR’s comments have all the consistency of a “family values” spoutin Tory politician caught in a brothel.
DL may not have said that but he might have said or words to the effect of ‘If I was going to sell you Id sell you to a continental team, but give me a year’
Either way Modric is working against Levy by cosying up to Mourinho. It offered an edge to Mourinho and worked against Levy.
So why wouldnt Levy do what he wanted to gain back the leverage and control?
Thats my point.
spurredoninDubblin,Harry saying that Levy promised Modric he could go anywhere if he got his price (but give him another year) is not a big issue. It makes sense. The point is ‘his price’.
Modric had tried to work against Levy by making it obvious RM was the only place to go for him. Therefore handing Mourinho the leverage to negotiate harder.
Why was Harrys comments so relevant?
Its obvious the price was important and who he would sell him to was important and he was under contract with Tottenham was important.I dont get it.
Since being dumped by Levy, Redknapp has been seen on a number of roadsides, sitting in his car, window down, Bond in the passenger seat with the Fishermans friends, waiting for a passing Sly Sports News crew to poke a mic in and ask for a soundbite. During the off season, and with no involvement in the Olympics, most of them have been on their hols. “C’mon Kev, this is shit – 3 hours, and not a sniff. Let’s go Cobham, see if there’s anyone knocking ’bout there.”,
“Sure boss, Cobham sounds promising boss. What do you fancy on the way – Genesis, or Michael Buble?”
This is exactly why levy got rid of that gobshite.
Even now he isn’t in the job anymore he has managed to undermine levy and the clubs negotiating position.
Can’t stand the bloke.
So in everyday training, don’t you think for a moment a manager would look at him and think…Mmm?, whereas GDS has done nothing in terms of attitude and performance to warrant a start, as i said name me even an incident when you thought, he’s pretty good?, bet you can’t!
I cant say with Harry because I have no idea how he was on the practice field.
All I remember is the interview where he got the ball in his head.Maybe that was GDS.
Remember he was going to let Bale go because he had no idea how to play him?
OK so what.He actually didnt play Bale until someone got injured at left back I think and Bale found space. Harry didnt figure how to play Bale.He just got lucky.
I thought most people were hoping bale would stay wide this season? Are we know hoping he’ll be played central with Gio on left wing? This all seems a bit potentially naff :(
If he can score goals like that , he can party 24-7 for all i care
Stick a large Smirnoff in his Lucazade and get him out there…
The Smirnoff chap left in January…this is the Tequila worm, yes, no?

Just when you thought
it was safe to go into the wateryou wouldn’t have to listen to Redknapp in the press anymore….Of course the thing that I don’t understand is why DL is alleged to have made this bargain with Modric? RM were not in for Lucre at that time
There is another explanation of course, mate.
Mr Arry might be telling a fib.

I tend to think Harry was angling for the Chelsea gig and said it tongue between both cheeks, ;-) Dub

Your point is taken: and my point is that whatever was said, I doubt very much if it was anywhere as specific as HR is now stating.
I suspect that if Manchequebook City were coming in for him, HR would have substituted them for RM

This was bound to happen eventually.

Surely in an attacking 433 he is the answer to Balealdo moving into his preferred attacking slot?
Pop him on the left, home in time for tea and medals.
Garethihno.
Some great goals there. Sharper than Suarez, without the buck teeth and the nasty cheating racist attitude
I wouldn’t know about his attitude, he’s always too pissed to be coherent- can pull a mean bird though.
When we ay a player is pissed,he may be pissed because his pissed.
and what would he be pissed at????
Being disrespected could possibly be the answer

Bale,Bale’s agent,Harry and the club have all refuted that rumour as made up nonsense!

Well said, play him on the right to cut in, Azza has had enough chances
and fans complain about player loyalty
