A Conveyor Belt Of Imbeciles

Good morning.

There is a depressing quantity of uninformed rubbish out there.

‘You only just noticed?’ comes the cry. But for the love of Mary Poppins what is the point of ‘writing’ about something you essentially don’t understand? I maintain that football isn’t a complicated game yet some of the stuff out there is surely being published as a wind up or part of a post stroke rehabilitation scheme.

The utterly miserable Triffic Tottenham warn of the looming specter of ‘a major campaign to reinstate Harry Redknapp.’ The piece continues, ‘you can guarantee that any top Premier League team to lose their manager will be straight after Harry.’

As was evident when Swansea, Norwich, Liverpool, Aston Villa, West Brom, Chelsea and even Birmingham all recently opted to swerved his invaluable services. Not to mention the FA! Nobody in their right mind wants anything to do with him.

The but we finished fourth mantra is another myth that urgently wants busting. Courtesy of @EwanRoberts:

If you take the second half of our season – the second set of 19 games – we won just seven matches. A win percentage of just 36%…and three of those wins (none of which were convincing) came in our final four games.

If you then deduct from this magnificent inheritance, this legacy of a genius; the services of Modric, Ledley King and van Der Vaart any attempt to dress up the train wreck Arry left behind him is on a par with something spouted by that Iraqi loon, Chemical Ali.

So backing Villas-Boas isn’t some happy clapper love in. It’s called support based upon intelligence. The boss has plenty to do and it might, just might aid the cause if when those attending games didn’t have their minds polluted by misinformation constructed by dull children.

But finding football ‘a bit too complicated’ isn’t the exclusive preserve of brainless bloggers. You can be in the game for decades and still be unable to find your bottom with both hands and a map. This Hugo Loris business has seemingly got out of hand before a ball has been kicked thanks to a bizarre comment from the old woman that is Didier Deschamps

“Hugo has not appreciated the statements of his coach.I am not going to create a problem that I do not need today. But if it were to happen then it would need some consideration. I do not want Hugo to find himself in this situation.”

And in other news it might rain and you might not have an umbrella.

The painfully obvious issue here being either deliberately ignored by the press or not grasped by them as they are too thick is that of Villa-Boas’ impeccable manners and sensibility.

Unlike our previous incumbent, the new boss is able to be in the same postcode as a microphone without morphing into a free wheeling guest from This Is Your Life with an Attention Deficit disorder. He thinks before he speaks.

Like the business with Dawson. It looked even money he was off. But until the deal was done he spoke about Michael and his immense human dimensions (easy, ladies) respectfully.

And not:

“…yur well ‘es an ‘oof merchant so we ‘oping that Stoke or some other pub team come in for ‘im, top top ‘oofer, for sure.”

So with Bradley he’s not going to announce him being elbowed out by a younger man to the press. Any coach worth his salt needs to keep his charges motivated and feeling valued, even if their days might well be just a little bit numbered.

Three games in. Three.

HH, 4-4-5 isn’t an effective manager? Who are you fuccing kidding? Most points since 61 isn’t effective?

That’s a hell of a formation. Let’s not forget Sir Keith in all of this, I think he trumps HR by quite a way winning lots of stuff and finishing 3rd (He couldn’t help that CL was for the league champs only in his day). Even Wendy and the main in the raincoat won something, as did El Tel. So respect to all where due.

We finished 4th man, I mean seriously….talk about picking the bones and trying to find something negative.

Here for many perception is reality. It’s delusion!

Need I insult YOUR intelligence HH by reminding you that on TrifficTottenham is more than one writer. So one writer was a bit more radical in his viewpoint – My deepest apologies on his behalf if it’s bothering you from all the way across the virtual information highway.

In my posts on there, I have neither slated AVB OR pleaded to bring back Redknapp. I appreciated what Redknapp did in the ‘honeymoon period’ as it’s known, but I am backing AVB to the hilt as he is our current manager AVB. If you are aware of there being more than one writer on there, that’s even stupider. Don’t tar us all with the same brush. I am a big fan of your down to earth posts usually, but wasn’t too impressed with your assessment of us on this one.

    Good day to you.

Liverpool already appointed their manager before we sacked Harry, and heard a number of Scousers say they wish he was sacked before, as they would have wanted him. I dont think Chelsea could have appointed anyone else really, and again HR wasnt sacked right at the end of the season.

Dont really know where all the disrespect comes from for Harry. He hasnt slated us in the press, hasnt said a thing bad about the club, guided us to a couple of 4th places etc etc. Its only natural the new manager is compared against him. It should be AVB that has to prove himself at Spurs, and for me he hasnt done that yet.

    • Come back Jurgen says:

Dont get me wrong though, in the stadium, he gets support and anything other than that is counter-productive.

he wae paid off to keep his big gob shut, but when the time period has lapsed it will flow as usual.

This is what I like, a good old factual point of view……
I, however, (that was sarcasm above btw) only go on what has actually happened, so until he does start spouting off, I prefer not to disrespect a manager that took us to CL after christ knows how many years of trying and watching our neighbours do it consistently.

AVB is a massive gamble as is changing a system with 6 new players.
That said I expect Dembele to play further up the park than Modric. Siggurdson likes to play with his face to goal so Kyle walker needs to stop the the Roadrunner…and brake..wait for the opposition defence ..and sideways ball….relax.Must do better, we have the players to run onto balls across the ground so play em FFS.
When Parker is fit I would like to see Sandro bring the ball forward more often. It is one of the reasons I thought we bought him.
Livermore can do a job but charging into their last 3rd to press the opposition isn’t one of them.
Our midfield is confused and leaving holes in it is not on.
I will be very happy when Kaboul is fit. Really would like see Caulker get as many games as possible in Europa playing alongside Vertonghen to see how they get on.
The thing about quality players they are technically proficient but their performance and impact is often greater than the sum of their technical ability.
Spurs have had a few John White, Jimmy Greaves,Alan Gilzean,Pat Jennings,Stevie Perryman,Glen Hoddle, Ledley King and for me Luka Modric. There are others but Modric made us a far better team and made some of our players raise their game.
Football is dirty business but Luka Modric is a great player. I am chuffed to have seen him in the shirt.
